you claimed that neither PS3 nor wii price cuts helped when its pretty that they did help with the exception of wii in japan. if anything the time that has elapsed since that thread had just shown you to be more wrong. nintendo is not going to go bankrupt for a very long time, and btw i do not long for a wii HD. Ive just bought a new black wii and im quite happy keeping this until next generation. this thread is not something i want its just a theory I have

 

 

LOL NO. Just admit it, the pricecut didnt help. It didnt help that Nintendo even thinks the pricecut was pointless. The wii will sell either way, just recap on what happened:

Thats right. Its WSR that helps the Wii to maintain its sales till NSMB Wii came along, NOT THE PRICECUT. The pricecut was nothing more but a hardcore gamers thinking, I doubt Nintendo will make a pricecut again.

You wishful thinking it though, if not so you shouldnt created this thread. Core gamers its over, therell be no Wii HD till atleast 2012 and thats questionable. The Wii will still selling 10 years to come

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

how does that help your cause? those numbers do not tell us whether WSR or the price cut was more responsible for the rise in sales. also please explain how nintendo thought the price cut was pointless and how is it a 'hardcore gamer's thinking?'

you know the sales spike of the September NPD sales was BEFORE the month's pricecut of the Wii which is on last week of September right? So if the pricecut will be effective its on month of October. But the September's sales are healthy without the pricecut. One month after WSR. So its not the pricecut that spike the sales of the Wii, its WSR and November and December NSMB Wii

in september, the average wii hardware price was $218, meaning that a large amount of wii sale sin september took place AFTER the pricecut.

 

lets look at this analysis.

 

June, before WSR luanch: weekly sales of 72340

July has 1 weeks of WSR: weekly sales of 63125

august has wsr on sale throughout:  weekly sales of 69350

september has 1 week of pricecut:  weekly sales of 92560

october has a full month wii at $199: weekly sales of 126725

as we can see, wii sales really start rising rapidly  after the price cut. WSR helped stabalise sales but it wasa the price cut which reinvigorated them.

I did say in the original thread title "or is it temporary"? I didnt say that the Wii spiked its sales after the pricecut but I think it only lasts 2-3 weeks not even a month just as PS3 did with the pricecut. IT DID NOTHING. If WSR and NSMB Wii didnt drive the Wii's sales and its due to the pricecut then the same thing could happen to PS3. SONY only relies on the revamp of PS3 and the pricecut, they have no software to show what happened? Its still in third place and 360 beats it in month of November, so much for the pricecut

the PS3 pricecut has had a huge effect, one that will change the whole life of the system. Look how PS3 was selling last year compared to this year. The large difference is all down to the price cut and slim relaunch

The Slim and Elite are different, neither of them had significantly expanded software capabilities. Wii HD would merely be market-splitting chaos

This version of the Wii HD doesn't have Zelda or Mario, I will wait for the revision.
