I was just wondering if anyone knew of some games that sony and / or microsoft were working on that would compete with mario. and now, i no a bunch of you would say lbp but there is no face behind lbp, no lovable character, so it wouldnt rival mario effectivly (ex. sonic had a face) 

any? 

edit - by killer i mean a frase used to say something they want to rival it. 

anything thats meant to be a "XXX killer" turns out to be:

1. Disappointing in quality

2. disappointing reviews wise

Kratos has been know to kill a few things...

Mario is the only platformer people buy anymore. It's impossible to make a Mario killer. Mario has stood the test of time since NES and continued to have consistent quality unlike Sonic.

i do not think that microsoft,sony or any other company can make a characher to rival mario who has made the videogame industry what it is today.mario's name is bigger than the videogame industry.it has become an icon.and the best part is that mario games continue to be on top in terms of quality and sales after all these years.

No game could ever kill Mario. You wanna know why? He has spanned too many genres.

You would have to make an IP that outsells him or outpopularizes him in platformers (both 2D and 3D), sports titles, and RPGs. At this point, a chance to kill Mario ended after Sonic's fall in popularity (1995 or 1996?) The only one who can do it is Nintendo.

nothing could kill mario, which is sad imo...lbp/modnation racers deserves to imo, but it will never happen, mario was great in the day...but he isnt utilized right imo
