Pretty much as I expected, a bit worse maybe. Graphics were very disappointing, it looked almost liked a very detailed PS2 game in HD and with bigger levels. Gameplay works surprisingly well, though I don't like level design too much. Will probably like the game more once I unlock Domination. Sounds are horrible, especially weapon sounds. Squads are completely seperate from each other, pretty lame.

But I like the beta anyway. Just needs to get better for me to buy the game.

The graphics were about what I expected.

The team play was a lot more than I expected what with the platoon leaders and different skills.

Overall though I'm disappointed b/c I'm not very good at FPS and after just a couple of days it was getting hard to cope with the more advanced weapons I was facing making it more difficult to earn experience.

I'm sure a lot of people will love MAG, it just doesn't cater to my skill level at all.

I liked the game overall but I do have minor complaints. The rocket launcher was fast which is good, but not being able to even remotely jog at LEAST bothered me quite a bit. I don't expect running at full speed but at least faster than walking. Changing weapons to a grenade bothered me severely. I am use to the KZ2 buttons overall so I was able to kinda customize to my liking but not being able to simply toss out a grenade at will and having to go through the trouble of pulling out the nade felt waaaaayyyy too clunky. I would have liked to been able to pistol whip people or hit them with my rifle (like KZ2) and pull out my knife only in certain situations. Interrupting the reload to hit enemies with my gun would have worked wonders (if it came to close range of course. It would be a thousand times better if I could fully customize my buttons period. I am sure some people also would prefer buttons mapped in a certain way that isn't too common, and I am sure that full customization isn't THAT hard to program along with being able to assign a button for immediate grenade toss.
Other than those complaints from that wall of text, the game is very good and has potential. People who played BF2 on PC will feel right at home as team work and strategy>all. Oh and the game begins to show its colors once you get past level 10 for those that are complaining and are like level 5 *coughCough* and claim that they have leveled "enough" to know the game inside and out. One thing they could do also now that I think about it is work a little better on the visibility for enemies. Kinda like how in KZ2 you can spot a Helghast soldier from fairly far due to the red eyes on their masks, or the ISA because of the glowing blue on their helmets. Anyways, the vehicles in this game are also win. :)

-The rocket launcher is like Counter-Strike, it doesn't weigh your movement down unless you're holding it in your hands lol.

-Using R2 and L2 for changing weapons and equipment doesn't bother me. In fact, it's similar to Bad Company 1.

-It can be rather difficult to distunguish enemies from the environments. I even have the gamma turned all the way up and I find it very difficult to see people if they're not spotted on my map or hud (as in that red dot).

Exactly, I don't like the rocket launcher weighing you down as much as it does to the point of ensnaring you as badly as it does. Besides it's not a good idea since you don't have the quick switch that CS had. And yes I was one of those CS players that switched weapons/knife like 20 times outta habit, especially before entering tunnel in De_Dust2 lol. If you haven't played KZ2 I recommend it and you will see what I mean by smooth controls. And the weapons do have a weight to them, even aiming. I also wish the pistol would be a little more useful like it is in CS (even glock alternating 3 shot/1 shot is better in CS hehe).

Then as a CS player, I think not I not only have to say that I own Killzone 2 and have played it since launch, but I was playing it since Beta 2!

And if you want extreme healing, get somebody to heal you at the same time you heal yourself.

Also, if you rearm yourself at ammo stockpiles, you're health will also be restored just like if you were to inject yourself. It only heals you as long as your rearming so just keep on holding circle as long as you need. You can also heal yourself and then start rearming yourself to get the same quick heal effect.

I think the point of the rocket launcher limitations is so that they are used for what they are intended for and not so that people can run around and start rocket launching as their primary weapon. Which seems to happen in almost every single FPS game, which is annoying. It is a gear to take out tanks and maybe a bunker buster. It is not a weapon to attack soldiers with.

As for reloading. Moral of the story... don't reload out in the open. Stop being Rambo. If you hot dog it you will get killed. Work with your team covering for each other and keeping each other protected.

As for planting/difusing not being worth enough points, that is how you win the battle, so even if it was worth 0 points it is worth it. You don't win the battle by killing people. If you are going in to plant something just for points knowing it will get difused right away after you get killed then that serves no purpose of completing the objective of the game.

I feel like the MAG defense corp or something.. But anyways i'm not saying out of context all their gameplay decisions are the best or the funnest but there is a type of holistic gameplay that Zipper is going for and so they have to make decisions in order to achieve that type of gameplay and they have to limit certain things to achieve the experience that they want. While you are playing there will ofcourse be certain situations where you wish you didn't have to use a needle to health regen, or you could run with a launcher, or knife as a more effective attack but if those things were implemented then it would change the dynamics of the game and the way people play so that it would start to become just like every other FPS out there which is not what the developers are aiming for. So if you like the feel of the game but a particular limitation bothers you try to adapt to it and see how you can be a better player for it knowing that the enemy has the same limitation rather than hope they change it because if they did that overall experience that is so enjoyable will be lost with those changes.

I'm wondering if anyone has won a battle completing every objective ABCDEFGH. It seems almost impossible. It's a pretty straight forward shooter, although it could use some more customization. I recommend playing at least beyond level 10 and get a medkit upgrade.

Probably if the defending team is very short on people or just plain stinks.

When does this beta end (if it's not already over, hopefully).
