Forums - Gaming Discussion - Big Games I'm not sure I'll(and others) will like.

If either Alan Wake and/or Heavy Rain are disappointing, I am going to be one depressed puppy.

Final Fantasy XIII - I've played all the post-SNES FF's and most of the ones before too. I pretty much grew up on the 3 PS1 FF's as a child and it's a franchise close to my heart. I'm just iffy on whether I'll be able to cope with what is supposedly ALOT of cut-scenes, as this totally put me off MGS4.

The difference is I had absolutely no ****ing clue what was happening in MGS4, but FFXIII story will hopefully be a bit more... coherent. We'll see, I don't think I'm opposed to cut-scenes mind you.

Zelda Wii - Yeah I know we know nothing about this, but I absolutely love Zelda and have played every game in the series (Except Spirit Tracks yet). Its a combination that I'm just getting jaded from Zelda, with the games really not progressing much on their basic core from the NES days. Also I found Phantom Hourglass to be poo - I guess that's the main reason I'm struggling for hype.

I'm sure it'll be okay once we get some trailers and stuff, just at the moment I'm not sure I could cope with another Zelda game that plays exactly like the other 13 I've played >_>.

Heavy Rain - It's my anti-cut scene fears coming in again. It's odd though, the game has me intriguied but I'm not sure I'll be able to stand 12 hours of it. Doubt I'll dare combine this with FFXIII anyway so will probably give it a miss :/.

That's all I could really think of, I'm quite excited for most games this year to be honest. Splendid.

I don't think XIII is that cut scene heavy, especially given its length. In Heavy Rain you are always in control

9 hours of cut scenes for a 60 hour game

I wanted more cut scenes TBH, too less imo

This almost looks like stealth bashing of the X360 since you added two X360 games but just one from Sony (which isn't even really a "Big" game), knowing that both X360 games will easily get +90% on Metacritic.

Do you ever get off of fanboy mode? Not everything has to be in terms of the console wars. Stop trying to look for conspiracies where they aren't and r-e-l-a-x.

No lol. I'm always on my guard. Fanboy mode always on.

Metroid Other M - Looks amazing so far... but I'm very scared it'll have an obscene number of cutscenes and way too much story and become a story driven game... metroid always is about huge worlds and gameplay, not corridors that lead to the next movie! In nintendo we trust, team ninja... not so much!

Dragon Quest IX - Played recently VII (to me it kinda sucked, and i just realized that 100 hours in lol) and VIII, I'm thinking this is not one of my favorite series anymore. Is it me that changed, or the game... well, I'll buy it but I'm thinking i'm not getting as much fun as before.

Final Fantasy XIII - Seven was great. X, not so much... If this is a mix between the two, it better have more VII than X in that blend!

just as a note on Metroid. Nitendo is heavily involved in developing the game (Nintendo + Team Ninja). Nintendo won't let their franchises be developed by others without having a representative there to make sure the game fits within the IP world. So I doubt Metroid willl leave the huge worlds with lots of exploration behind, but we could see an increase in combat which could turn out really well. Not that the there isn't reason for concern, considering we don't know anything about the game.

@slimebeats

Heavy Rain is extremely hyped on this website, so not calling it "big" seems just wrong. Also, we don't know that Alan Wake will get +90, unless we know that Heavy Rain will get +90.

On this website yes, but I strongly believe this is one of few expections and once the game is out and we've seen the initial reviews and sales, we won't be comparing Heavy Rain to Alan Wake or Halo: Reach in terms of 'being big'.

But time will tell.

Did you notice he called you "SlimeBEATS"? That's actually kind of a cool name, if you were a DJ or something. Are you?

Heh, yeah. Sadly I'm no DJ. Not that I really would want to be, but it sounds kinda cool with Slimebeats lol.

ok, so let's go check other websites (man, you are making me visit IGN )

http://www.ign.com/index/upcoming.html?&sort=popularity&releaseStartDate=20100107&releaseEndDate=21091214&currentGenre=All&currentTimeSpan=Any%20Time&order=desc&sortOrders=ddd&pageType=top&indexType=upcoming&timeFilter=anytime&locale=us&platform=568479

Heavy rain is in the "boom" category. So highly anticipated over there too. Heavy Rain & Alan Wake won't even touch Halo Reach, but those too games have a decent chance of performing similarly WW.

Ah, that ain't so bad then, albeit I don't think all those 60 hours are playing through the main quest so the ratio is probably a big higher. Especially through this so called linear beginning for the first 20 hours.

I'm sure it'll be fine, but MGS4 really didn't see the idea of long cutscenes to me. I'm just not sure if it's cause I don't really 'get' the MGS story or I just dislike watching a video game I could play.

no 60 hours is main quest

imho as FF is a game where I care about the story I would have expected more cut scenes

but oh well
