Wow my predictions of 600,000 were right on. I knew it wouldn't sell out. So lets see in April for the real worldwide comparisons.

Heise.de reported on behalf of an official Sony representative that these 100.000 where shipped to the German language area including Austria and Swiss, not just Germany. I suspect that the 72k ioi allocated to Germany alone are actually the sales of this area.

Yes, that's probably right. And I must admit that I am still surprised about these low numbers. If I am not mistaken Germany was the biggest PS-2 market in Europe. But the high price changes everything.

As expected, the UK was the number one PAL territory – but SCEE president David Reeves hailed the performance of PS3 in other markets, too. “France did very well,” he told MCV. “Sales were around half of the UK, with Spain and Portugal slightly behind that. Germany, too, saw strong sales of around the 50-60,000 mark." “We saw around Euro 400 million sales going through retail across PAL territories in two days; that’s certainly a big figure, which we’re very proud of.” Sony also confirmed to MCV that around 150,000 consumers had registered with the PS3 Network during the two days. This seems to be more or less in line with the numbers ioi posted, although Germany is a bit lower and Spain and Portugal seem to be taken together in this article.

I love how Sony is using the high price to brag about high revenues.

Investors don't give a crap about the revenue. It's profit that they look at.

The german chart-tracking service media control announced today that 48.000 PS3 games have been sold in the first week. On the one hand it's more than Wii (42.000) or Xbox 360 (33.000) could sell in their first week but on the other hand it also shows a game to console tie rate lower than 1:1 which is even lower then the tie rate of the Wii (which is lower than 1 because it inludes Wii Sports which isn't counted as sold games by media control). I guess up to a quarter of the PS3 customers bought it just for blu ray play-back (or they didn't have any money left for games ).
