I don't belive those numbers. Since Sony Australia announced that EB got 75% of PS3 allocated to them (12,000 units) therefore another 25% is 4,000 units so a total of 16,000 units shipped to aus. Guess what there is still a shitload of PS3s left in stores.

Even if Sony fudged the numbers a little it's still over 500k from "other" regions, and given bad press about things such as price and limited backwards compatability that's pretty darn good.

Paraphrashing someone else from this forum, saying that the "PS3 sold well despite its price" is the same as saying "the PS3 didn't sell very well due to its price". Anyway, that was Sony's bet to make an expensive console with mandatory Blu-Ray, let's see how it works for them...

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.
