I have the same problem, except it's with the PS3. Too used to the 360.

To me it makes more sense that a trigger would be to fire guns in FPS games and for gas/brakes on racing games. So when I pick up a controller it comes natural to me which button is to fire the gun or gas/brake. The bumpers would be for secondary actions.

When it gets to the Japanese games, with the quirky control schemes, that's when I get confused. They use fire weapons on the face buttons, weird stuff like that.

The buttons do the exact same thing on PS3 and 360 controllers. They're just given different names. Its not that hard.

With me, I couldn't tell the difference with the PS2 controller. Always had to look at the controller to figure out which one was R1/R2. At least with the PS3 controller, your mind can automatically assume that the cushy phat button on the bottom would be the main shoulder button.

I too have this problem, i've owned my 360 for over a year and still call the buttons R1 and L2 etc. I 360 can almost copy the ps control layout they should take the names too to avoid confusion.

yeah, the 360 controller was odd when I first played with it, but hey, you get used to it

It makes sense for me and tbh its more comfortable than the PS3 controller, especially the damn trigger vs the PS3's horrible L/R2 which gives me muscle cramp if I play burnout or motorstorm for too long.

Then again, this type of things usually only ever get me when I'm doing QTE and I don't have many 360 games that have hard QTE so it could just be the situation.

But in term of controller comfort 360 > PS3.

Maybe u press the grenade button on COD 360 because thats the shoot button on ps3? i dont think it has anything to do with the names.

What throws me for a loop is the Playstation labeling of the four side buttons in a diamond formation. I have problems remembering which button is where. I had forced myself to try to do the following:
X is at the bottom
Triangle is on top
O is to the right of the X
and Square is to the left of the Triangle.

I hope I got this right. It is NOT intuitive to me at all.

i remember when i first played the xbox, they're is this shooter game that said said "LT" i thought it mean't Lieutenant , but then i actually recognized it from it's shape.
