Will NSMB Wii reach 10m faster than any other single-console game?

Yes! 118 76.13%

No! 13 8.39%

....Holy Hell, it's selling THAT fast?! 24 15.48%

After some adjustmentas have been made, it was at 9 million after 6 weeks. According to Media Create, it sold 268000 units in Japan, leaving 732k units to go. According to the cgcharts data for the week ending 2nd Jan, it sold 236k in Others, leaving 496k. So the question is will it hit 10mil week 7 or 8?

Why is it unfair to align launches?

I want it to be a real-time record, like GTA's was.

There's a small possibility of the game reaching 10 millions with this update...it only needs a bit more than 700k and considering over 250k for Japan it's not impossible for Americas to sell over 450k! Japan is still missing in the countries where it was undertracked though (obviously kidding!).

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

well we have ~400k of Japan figures for weeks 5 and 6 so that takes you up to 9.6m with americas and japan for week 7 so it should just do it

media crate has about 268000 for 5th wk sales in japan.

With the new adjustments it went from being possible to being highly probable. Hopefully it won't see any big downward adjustments.

My point is why should one game be penalised for a more staggered release schedule? Surely aligning launches is the only fair way to make a comparison?

Whether its fair or not, if it makes it aligned but not real-time there will always be those who dispute the record.

It's true, games may be penalized for a staggered release schedule. Games are also penalized for releasing at different times of the year, or may be higher/lower depending on how the platform it's on is doing. Things will never truly be fair, so I prefer we don't manipulate any sales, and leave things as-is.

Well, NSMB Wii will break the record anyway, so there's no problem here!

Well all future comparison tools we are working for VGChartz are based on worldwide aligned launches since in my eyes that is the only fair way to compare one game to another in terms of how they are performing. Sure holidays make a difference, as do competition, time of launch on a console etc but staggered launches is a totally different thing and something that is easily adjusted.

As soon as that feature is available I would love to be able to use it, I'm glad that you guys are working on it.

I'm bumping this to say that, after adjustments, NSMBWii hit 10 million in seven weeks, even unaligned.

This shit is bananas.

Bananas!
