In the first place, I'm not actually "rooting" for it, I'm just finding this interesting. All records are more exciting when broken

Secondly, the game is selling hugely in Japan. If we aligned launches, it would break it in less than nine weeks, and fairly easily. That's why it would not be as interesting.

Well, I guess I haven't been here long enough to see the after-holiday-drop-off, so I did not take it into account.

(I'm here since last february).

How is it really easy? Isn't the holiday dropoff normally pretty huge, like only doing 200-300k per week?

Japan's drop-off isn't as extreme in January, and Mario is pushing huge numbers there, so aligned launches would kind of make it unfair

yeah we need to align japanese sales first, and it looks like it will do another good 600k there in th enext 2 weeks. So the record looks like its in the bag, and it also looks like being the top selling wii title behind Wii sports
