Okay did YOU dislike Up?

I haven't seen Up. But out of all the Pixar/Dreamworks films I've seen over the past four or five years I've found that the majority have not felt, uh, as magic as they used to. I feel as though the films have become a labour of profit as opposed to a labour of love, they've adopted the "stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap approach"

Or maybe I've just grown out of cartoons.

I find that very interesting! I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm just being curious, because I love Pixar and falling out of love with Pixar is an interesting concept to me.

Last four or five years...

Well, they had Up, Wall-E, Ratatouille, Cars, and The Incredibles

Now granted Cars was comparatively weak, but...

I didn't particularly like Ratatouille or Cars, The Incredibles was good and I've not seen Wall-E. Admittedly Pixar are much better than Dreamworks though, Pixar have a way of keeping the writers minds fresh (I heard instead of offices they have log cabins). Dreamworks by comparison make relatively sub-par films like Shark tale, Over the hedge, Bee movie, Shrek 3, Flushed away, Monsters vs aliens, the list goes on.

Or as I said, maybe I'm just losing interest in these types of films.

Also another note I would like to make about films in 2010. Speaking from someone who is familiar with the technology used in 3D film making, 3D should not be used unless artistically viable. However, 3D is tacked onto a lot of films nowadays for two reasons.

1. 3D movies are supposedly impossible to pirate (although I would like to have a go at this, I reckon I could do it) and so the piracy levels are lower.

2. The profit made on a 3D movie tends to be higher than that of a comparative 2D one from what I'm aware.

It's not particularly more difficult logistically to produce a 3D cartoon over a 2D one, movies are more difficult, but the two reasons I gave kind of justify the extra effort to make a 3D film and sacrifice artistic licence.

But I think unless you can pull of a 3D film well (like Avatar), then it shouldn't be in 3D and should stay in 2D for the sake of quality... And don't tack on cheesy effects.

Ok, I'll stop rambling now.

Oh Highwaystar. You've got to run out and watch Wall-e and Up right now. They were two of the best films of their respective years.
And don't you dare talk of Pixar and Dreamworks in the same sentence.

When it comes to CGI animation there are three levels

1. Pixar
2. the Reboot tv show
3. Everything else

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I generally agree, but I actually enjoyed Kung Fu Panda much more than WALL-E. In fact, I enjoyed Kung Fu Panda more than any Pixar film since The Incredibles.

As for movies I'll avoid this year, definitely Tooth Fairy. That looks so fucking stupid. I can't believe The Rock is doing kiddy movies now. I hope it destroys his career like it did Vin Diesel's.

I'd like to say I'll be avoiding Sex and the City 2 and Eclipse but I'll probably be forced to watch them day one.

last year was pretty weak for movies. I want to see iron man 2 and that's it.

Argreed, if I only could watch one new movie in 2010 it would be Iron Man 2 also.

The next Twilight movie... usually if there is a bad movie I just won't see it but I will end up getting dragged to see this one.

Saw 19...

Legion, looks idiot
