Mario is my favorite.
I'd have to say it's better by default because we are actually getting Mario platformers this gen instead of just one.

The encounter rates were predictable and annoying. It's annoying when you take a few steps to the side to get to the treasure, but when you go back to where you were, you get sunk into a battle. The DMW was a dumb feature. This thing enters the modulation phase every five seconds during a boss battle. You have no control over it, and it felt like the game was the one playing the game. I don't like what I'm hearing about FFXIII. Silent Hill - Worse - Didn't like Origins. Homecoming was alright, but it wasn't as great as the first three games. Haven't played Shattered Memories yet. Mario - Better - Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best games I've played this gen. Can't wait for the sequel. Shin Megami Tensei - can't really say - I enjoyed Devil Survivor a lot, whole lot more than Persona 4. I didn't like what they did with the Persona remake - new artsyle, music. Really excited for Strange Journey though. Finally, the spiritual successor to Nocturne is coming. |

Metroid - Better
Fallout - Fallout 2 to Fallout 3....WAYYYYY Better and i lived FO 2 but FO3 may be in my top 3 fav games ever.
GTA - Havent tried it yet, its on my shelf
EverQuest - Better, I know this ones wayy out there but i love Eq2 lol, or i used to im done with it now but i played it for 4+ years strait. It came out in 04 so ill count it as this gen.
Hmmm nothing else i can think of. A lot of new ips this gen. Wii Sports, Little Kings Story, Madworld, Left 4 Dead, Demon's Souls, Dragon Age, and prob more that i cant think of atm.
Elder Scrolls - better this gen
Wolfenstein - worse
Fable - better
Age of Empires - no iteration this gen yet
Star Wars: Dark Forces/Jedi Knight - no iteration this gen yet
Halo - better (hopefully with Halo: Reach)
Forza Motorsports - better
Zelda - I don't know since I haven't played Twilite Princes
Street Fighter = last gen. I love me some SF4 but it doesnt come close to my love of SF2 :)
FF = last gen. Crisis Core was awesome (none other out, yet). FF13/Versus will change this
Persona's = Last Gen. Persona 3/4 are awesome and P1 on the PS1 > remake on PSP.
Suikoden = Last Gen. Where is my new one Konami? Dirty bastards! I will buy whatever its on JUST DO IT NOW!
DMC = Same. I liked them all, 4 just seemed easier maybe? its been awhile
GoW = Same. Collection is great and all but its happened before...GoW 3 will change this!
Everything Blizzard = Before. Activision will ruin everything blizzard :( (might not be on a console but I gotta take my shots at those dirty bastards whenever I can :)
Resident evil:Worse.Well,it was expected.Resident evil 4 wasn't just another game.
Devil May Cry:Worse.Great graphics and gameplay as good as the 3rd one but playing the same 4 hours twice was just too much.
