Yeah CODMW2 was pretty boring i recently sold my copy, because its so life draining and too many campers w/ heartbeat monitors. Currently playing uncharted 2, its pretty fun for now.

Perhaps you could elaborate on what you mean by that term? I'm curious...

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

and so the circle comes around again. FPS really are devoid of meaningful gameplay, lets bring back 2D where there's nowhere for lazy devlopers to hide with their gameplay!

Is that so? FPS is pure gameplay.

I think we are witnessing the over saturation of a genre, not necessarily as in there are two many titles out there, rather its because we have been force fed the whole "shooters are the ultimate game experience" for so long and in bigger and bigger amounts that now we're witnessing the downwards slope where we just aren't impressed anymore. It happened with platformers and with adventure games on pc, might just happen with shooters although  the genre still has years ahead, and to be fazed out it needs to be replaced by another dominant genre. It's also been this generation's way of showing off its graphics, and it's done it's job well so far.

Basically it's become the defacto mechanic to convey an experience, so that if a shooter is a just a good shooter it can't be that enjoyable on that basic premise alone anymore, the mechanic has become a background noise which most people ignore, being more expectant and excited about the added mechanics and content on top. Kinda like JRPG's in Japan.

count me in... I'm an FPS veteran having played all the classics: Doom 1-3, Quake 1-3, Heretic, Hexxen, Descent, Tribes, Halflife, and several others I can't remember anymore. Never bought any FPS for my PS3, they're pretty descent on Wii though, though not as addictive as they used to be. To me, they used to be bigger and brighter and whiter than snow, now I fucking dread them. No more fucking rehash!!! That's why I don't have a 360, it's for FPS loving newbs.

I never played shooters , so i havent got a problem with them. But i do agree that there is simply too many of them on the market, so it is hard to deliver a fresh experience.

What annoys me is when RPG games that i love like Fallout or Mass Effect force you to play them as a shooter, just to widen their appeal to the public.

There shouldn't even exist other gaming genres !
FPS FOR LIFE !!!

FPS nowadays == repetetive and boring

I liked fast-pacing arcade shooters though, but as the genre became more obsessed with cinematic experience, story, and rehashing itself, I get quickly bored. It hit me somewhere in HL2's time, and I didn't even finished Ep.1, it felt so slow and uninspiring.

SURELY NOT ALONE

Someone should start a petition. Unimaginative FPS should be destroyed. Always. And X360 owners are nothing but FPS-loving-newbs.
