Forums - Sales Discussion - Both Wii and PS3 will not sell below 200k consoles in weekly sales in 2010.

The PS3 has a long list of exclusive games: Gran turismo 5, God of War 3, Resistance 3, M.A.G, Heavy Rain, White Knight Chronicles as well as a well established games library plus the third party games coming out in 2010 including FFXIII. $299 PS3 price tag will drive PS3 sales in 2010. All PS3 exclusive games will drive PS3 sales anthrough the roof.

The Wii it has Super Mario Galaxy 2, Wii Sports 2, the ever green Wii exclusive games that keep selling with no end in sight. Wii should easily sell a minimum of 200k every week even in quiet weeks.

Any way what are your thoughts on this issue?

BTW: As for the 360 sales it could fall below 120k sales in a week due to the long awaited Natal and  next 360 price cuts due late in 2010. 360 has a good list of games but exclusive games will have little impact on 360 sales due to it being in its twilight years.

Well that doesn't actually sound that crazy.

Take my love, take my land..

idk i would say they wont go below 150k, but as far as games go, 360 has just as many great looking titles coming IMO so it should push pretty decent hardware all year until Halo reach and Natal Hit and everyone forgets about Wii and PS3

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

yeah that's just not gonna happen. PS3 last year hit 88k, year before 108k, year before that 50k.

Even the wii hit 158k this year. Only in the biggest year ever for a console in 2008 the wii didn't go below 210k, you think the ps3 can sell like that?

As far as 360 goes it will probably go below 120k, but it has nothing to do with Natal, going below 120k isn't even bad. As you can see PS3 hasn't been able to do that yet either.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I could see it happening for Wii, but honestly I don't think PS3 will stay above 200k every single week of the year.

Wii and PS3 should have a smoother year - i.e. higher weekly lows and lower weekly highs.

DS is the only machine that won't dip under 200k/week this year. That said I don't think Wii will spend many weeks under 200k and PS3 probably won't spend many weeks under 135k or so.

All hardware is going to be down in 2010 though. In terms of certainty I'd go PS2/PSP for sure, DS/X360 probably, and Wii/PS3 very likely.

yeah, that's just because PS3 and wii are riding momentum from the year before, rather than losing momentum early in the year.  Lower prices will also help.  Wii and PS3 will probably be up YOY for the most of the early year (except early supply constrained months for wii), but they will end up down when the weeks of the price cuts come.  It'll basically be a lot like what happened to the 360 in 2009.

@ kowen: There has been a Res 3 billboard already (featured in a film, but leaked). And when I asked the devs, they said "We're not talking about that game" and I said "Well, won't need to, since we already know it exists" which was countered by a "oh.... shit"-look :p

Can I just say:

PS3:
Heavy Rain, White Knight Chronicles, The Last Guardian and MAG won't move a significant number of PS3s during their release week. Final Fantasy XIII, God of War III and Gran Turismo 5 have better chances and will be the ones to show a significant number of PS3s during their release week.

360:
Alan Wake, Fable III, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Crackdown 2 won't move a significant number of 360s during their release week. Halo: Reach will be the one to show a significant number of 360s during its release week.

Wii:
No More Heroes, Metroid Prime: The Other M won't move a significant number of Wiis during their release week. Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Zelda Wii willl be the ones to show a significant number of Wiis during it's release week. Having said that for the Wii, it really doesn't need those exclusives to produce significant boosts and sales. It just keeps on selling no matter what.

Many of these games, like Galaxy 2, won't move hardware at all.
