Forums - Sony Discussion - InFamous trophy guide discussion

This is a thread for those of you who would like help with getting the platinum (or any trophy) for InFamous and don't understand or didn't know about this guide. For other guides, see this thread (it's a work in progress). This includes tips for how to do each stunt. If someone has suggestions, feel free to comment and I can add to the OP. (As this has been in the database for a while, I can't edit it there, but I will update this thread).

inFamous Trophy Guide - insomniac17

This is a simple guide for the trophies in inFamous. I have them arranged by Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, followed by the names, descriptions, and how to get each one. Use ctrl+F to quickly reach any specific trophy.

Bronze Trophies

Just Scratched the Surface - Collect all Dead Drops in the Neon District.

This one is fairly straight forward; just search all the rooftops in the Neon District, using L3 to locate each drop. (The grey lines around the edges of the mini-map show where the location of the nearest dead drop is.) You’ll need to do this after you’ve restored power to the entire Neon District (four substations).

Further Down the Rabbit Hole - Collect all Dead Drops in the Warren.

Second verse, same as the first. Simply repeat the steps for Just Scratched the Surface, only in the Warren District this time.

You're so Sly - Collect all Dead Drops in the Historic District.

Still the same, only you’ll be hunting in the Historic District.

Junior Geologist - Find 25% of the Shards.

Finding shards can be a pain. I’m not going to give an in depth guide as to where you can find every shard (if you do want one, PM me and I can give you a few guides with the location of every shard), but I will say that you should be collecting as you go. If you want, you can do what I did and break everything down into the city blocks (separated by streets) and hunt through each district block by block. I also recommend you go along the outside of each district looking for some that may be a bit farther out.

Member of the Mineral Club - Find 50% of the Shards.

Same as above.

Rockhound - Find 100% of the Shards.

Same as above, but a fair warning; many people I’ve talked to have had the same issue; the last shard is a pain. Hang in there, and you can find it! (EDIT: PM me if you want a map for the locations of the shards. They were not done by me, but are very helpful if you're missing one or two.)

Frequent Flyer - Travel 5 kilometers using Static Thrusters.

You get the Static Thrusters at the beginning of the Warren, and all you have to do is just use them a lot. You should be able to get this trophy simply by completing the story missions.

Hotfoot - Travel 25 kilometers while riding the rails.

This one is fairly straight forward as well. Once you have the ability to “grind” on rails and cables, just hop on one of the tracks and ride for a while. Again, you can probably get this one just by finishing the story and side missions, but if you do find yourself finished without it, hop on the tracks (right side if the trains are running and watch out for them; they hurt if they hit you) and just ride them until you get it.

Electric Hobo - Ride the train for 2 kilometers.

This one is easy since there are three missions that require you to be on the train to get it running. You can always just hop on the first train in the Neon and ride it until you get it; very simple.

Casey Jones - Take down 25 enemies while riding on a moving train.

This trophy was one that I had some serious issues with. I found that playing on Hard makes this trophy a lot easier to get; otherwise there’s just not really enough enemies to shoot down (easily). All you do is just ride the train, and shoot at enemies until you get it. I highly recommend doing this on Hard (you can switch the difficulty to Hard for the train sections, and back to Easy or Normal once you’re done).

(EDIT: Thanks to dsister44 for this; I'm not sure if this is true or not, but apparently you can get this trophy by dying and repeating this mission. This has not been confirmed, but I suppose it's worth a shot if you're having problems with it. EDIT 2: Thanks to IllegalPaladin for this; he used this technique and it worked for him, so I would recommend trying it out.)

Road Kill - Take down 25 enemies while riding on the roof of a moving vehicle.

This one is simple as well. Without giving too much away, there are a few missions that have you on top of a vehicle killing a ton of guys. It’s actually hard to not get this trophy, so long as you stay on the vehicle.

Drop Everything - Thunder Drop for a total distance of at least 500 meters.

A Thunder Drop is executed by pressing square while Cole is in the air. Just jump off a lot of buildings for this one. Rinse and repeat. (There’s a very tall “building” in the Warren; you’ll understand when you get there; and Thunder Dropping from this one will get you a lot closer. Plus, it looks cool!)

AC/DC - Drain 750 megawatts of power from Empire City.

A lot of these Bronze trophies are simple, eh? Just run around Empire City and drain the electricity from everything you can. I’d recommend you play through the story and side missions so that this doesn’t get too boring, and finish up once you’re done if you need to.

Get Off My Cloud - Get 100 High Fall take downs.

I love using the Shockwave to blast enemies off of buildings. All you need to do is run around on buildings and knock 100 enemies off. Make sure you get the “High Fall” bonus though, or it won’t count.

Red Baron - Take down 100 enemies while they are airborne.

This one is easier as a good guy, since the good powers cause enemies to “float” after being hit. Knock them in the air, and blast the snot out of them. You can also blast guys off of rooftops and zap them before they hit the ground.

Fish in a Barrel - Kill 50 enemies by using water.

This one is easy to get if you just look for water. The substations have it; knock guys into it and zap the water near them for an instant kill. There are also puddles around Empire City that you can use to zap them.

True Potential - Purchase every upgrade for a single power.

Playing on Easy or Normal gives more XP, which makes this a lot easier. I’d recommend doing Easy or Normal for both Good and Evil (then Hard a third time; that’s what I did!). It is possible on Hard, but you’ll need some XP after you’ve beaten the game and with the lack of enemies, it can be a bit hard to get.

Oh, You've Done This Before - Take down 50 enemies by sticking them with a grenade.

This one is a lot easier than it sounds. Just throw a bunch of shock grenades at a bunch of bad guys and if they touch them before blowing up, they stick. It’s kinda fun to see them run around with a grenade stuck to their bodies before they blow up. =)

The Hunger - Bio Leech 100 enemies.

Do as an evil guy. You lose Hero points if you do this as a good guy. Just walk up to a bunch of enemies and tap square to drain their energy. Just a word of caution; it has to be enemies. Pedestrians don’t count.

Doctor Cole - Heal 250 pedestrians.

This one is simple as well. Run around on the streets and press triangle to zap their sickness and diseases away. You get this ability very early on, so you can do this as you play through the story.

I've taken out the Good/Evil trophies here to save some space. Basically to get these, just play through the game as good, then again as evil.

Stunt Man - Complete any one stunt from the stunt list.

The list shows one at a time across the bottom of the pause menu. This can be annoying but I will provide you with a complete list under the Stunt Master trophy. All you have to do is complete one of the stunts for this trophy.

Stunt Coordinator - Complete 10 of the stunts on the stunt list.

Same basic drill as above, only this time, you need to do 10. Once you’ve done a stunt, it doesn’t count towards the total anymore, so you’ll have to keep doing new ones for this trophy.

Silver Trophies

Good Finish - Beat the game as a Hero.

I think this is pretty easy. Just make sure your Karma is at Hero, not Guardian or Champion. This should be easy if you made all good choices (aka the Good _____ Bronze trophies).

Evil Finish - Beat the game while Infamous.

Again, this is pretty easy. And again, just make sure your rank is Infamous, not Thug or Outlaw. This should also be easy if you made all evil choices (aka the Evil _____ Bronze trophies).

Community Organizer - Take over all territory in the Neon District.

Simply complete all side missions in the Neon District. I believe that in order to get this trophy, you have to defeat the first boss, so don’t freak if you’ve done everything and you still don’t have the trophy.

Civic Leader - Take over all territory in the Warren.

Same as above, only in the Warren District. I don’t remember if you have to defeat the second boss, but if you have done all the side missions and don’t have it, just beat the second boss and you’ll get it. I don’t think you do have to for this one, though.

Urban Designer - Take over all territory in the Historic District.

Same drill again, just in the Historic District.

True Hero - Purchase every positive Karma upgrade for each power.

Simply play through as good, (it’s easier to get the XP on Easy or Normal!), and buy all of the good upgrades. I don’t think this includes the neutral ones (but I could be mistaken). I’d recommend upgrading the good stuff before the neutral stuff, just in case.

Evil to the Core - Purchase every negative Karma upgrade for each power.

Same as above, just replace good with evil.

Goody Two Shoes - Reach full positive Karma.

Become a Hero and still be a good guy. You have to get the little arrow thing all the way to the top of the Karma meter. Make good choices!

Truly Infamous - Reach full negative Karma.

Same as above, only you have to get the arrow to the bottom of the Karma meter. Make bad choices!

Stunt Master - Complete all of the stunts on the stunt list.

This one is a pain. Some of the stunts are hard, and I hate how there isn’t a full list in the game. As such, here is the complete list for your viewing pleasure, complete with how I would recommend getting each one;

Thanks to IllegalPaladin; Make sure you do these before finishing off the main and side missions. Some side missions (some of the Good/Evil ones are a good place to start) have a lot of enemies to fight, which means a lot of chances to get some of the stunts. You can use the same technique recommended for the Casey Jones trophy.

1. Crush - Kill an enemy by crushing them with an object.

Shockwave is your friend. Push large objects into enemies to kill them. I got this one before I knew it; it’s really easy.

2. Sticky Bomb - Kill an enemy by sticking a shock grenade to him.

A lot easier than it sounds; just throw a ton of grenades in the general direction of a bunch of enemies and hope that some of them stick.

3. Have a Nice Fall - Kill 3 enemies at once by making them fall from a high place.

This one is a pain. I think the best way to do this is by using a shockwave. There are plenty of story missions with many guys on a single rooftop; if you come across them, don’t miss the chance to do this stunt as it is nearly impossible once you’ve beaten the game.

4. Melee Finisher - Kill an enemy with the last hit of 5 hit melee combo.

Self explanatory; if you don’t get it, just keep beating the snot out of a bunch of bad guys.

5. Flying Melee - Kill an airborne enemy with a melee attack.

This one, I’m not entirely sure how I got; I just killed a bunch of guys with melee and occasionally got it. I thought that the trick would be to knock them in the air with shockwave and hit them in the air, but that’s really hard. My suggestion is just to kill lots of guys with melee until you get it (probably easier to do on Easy).

6. Enviro Take Down - Kill an enemy with an environmental explosion.

Look around. Empire City is filled with cars. All you need to do is blow up a car near an enemy, and if he dies, you’ve got it. There’s also the standard exploding barrel but given the plethora of cars in the city, you should have no problem doing this stunt.

7. Premature Detonation - Kill an enemy by making a Kamikaze enemy explode near them.

These guys suck. Fortunately, they’re easy to kill. Simply kill one when it’s surrounded by a few other enemies. This one is easier than you might think.

8. Air Strike - Kill an enemy with Lightning Bolt while Cole is airborne.

Jump off a building and zap some guy. Or, you can do what I do and zap some guy until he’s almost dead, and then jump and finish him off. I’ve gotten this stunt unintentionally many times, so it’s pretty easy to get.

9. Blast & Bolt - Kill an airborne enemy with Lightning Bolt.

Easy, just blast a guy off of a rooftop and zap him before he reaches the ground. This is easier to do with the good powers since they’ll make enemies “float” (they move slower in the air).

10. Flying Head Shot - Score a headshot on an airborne enemy.

This one is annoying. I did it as a good guy by blasting a guy off of a rooftop and zapping his head with precision. This one is hard though, so try and get it out of the way as soon as you can.

11. Air Sticky Bomb - Kill an airborne enemy by sticking a grenade to him.

You have to stick a grenade to an airborne enemy. This is hard. Blast a guy into the air with Shockwave, start chucking grenades, and hope that one will stick.

12. High Fall - Kill an enemy by making him fall from a high place.

This one is really easy. Find some guy on a high building and blast him off the edge. Enjoy watching his body fall and smash into the ground. Simple!

13. Right Back at Ya - Use Shockwave to make enemy kill themselves with their own grenade.

When an enemy throws a grenade at you, use Shockwave to blast it back at him. If you’re lucky, it’ll kill him and you’ll get the stunt.

14. Up Close and Personal - Kill 3 Enemies back to back with melee attacks.

Don’t shoot anyone while doing this. You need to kill them back to back with no shooting in between. It’s really easy to do. Just run up to three guys and kill them with melee.

15. Insult To Injury - Stick a grenade to an enemy, and then kill them before it explodes.

This one is fun. Zap a guy a couple of times, stick a grenade to him, and then hit him a few more times so he dies. Then when he’s dead, his body gets blown sky high by that grenade. Hurray!

16. Whack a Mole - Kill a Conduit with Thunder Drop.

This one is also a pain, but I think the best way to do it is to weaken a Conduit, and then start thunder dropping on his head until he dies. I did this in the Warren on one of those guys who throws out the junk spider things, but it’s probably easier if you do this in the Neon. (EDIT: I forgot the guys in the Neon teleport; I'd stick with the ones in the Warren.)

17. Crowd Control - Kill five enemies at once.

This one is pretty self explanatory. I’d recommend using grenades on tightly packed enemies. This one may take a bit of time, but it is doable.

18. Ride the Lightning - Kill an enemy with a Precision shot while rail grinding.

I didn’t have any problem with this. Hop on a rail and start sniping guys. Go for a headshot and get it over with. I hope you’re good at sniping!

19. Splash and Crash - While in the air, shock an enemy and then hit the same enemy with Thunder Drop.

This one is hard. What I did was carefully aim at a guy while on top of a tall building. I then jumped off, zapped him, and used Thunder Drop to hit him. This one will take a bit as well, as enemies usually move away from you if you’re using Thunder Drop from really high up.

20. Unquenchable Thirst - Transfer to 4 different grinds without touching anything else.

This one is really easy. Just use the train tracks before you get them up and running, find a clear spot and start grinding. Hop to each of the four rails and you’re done. You can also do this with 4 electric cables that are parallel to each other, but there aren’t many areas with this.

(EDIT: Thanks to IllegalPaladin; If you don't want to use the train tracks or are having problems there, you can also try the cables around the circular buildings in the historic district.)

21. Suspended Sentence - Kill an airborne enemy with Thunder Storm.

This one is really easy once you get the thunder storm. Just use it while powering up the three generators for the last substation (you’ll understand when you get there) and you’ll have this stunt in no time.

There you have it. Good luck with these, and I can’t stress enough how much easier they are if you do them during the story. Trust me on this.

Gold Trophy

Hard Finish - Finish story mode on Hard, without changing the difficulty setting.

I’m not sure if you can do this the first time through, but what I did was beat the game, set the difficulty to Hard, saved, and started a new game. The difficulty started off on Hard on the new save file and then you just have to beat all the story missions on Hard without changing the difficulty at any time.

(EDIT: Thanks to Ajescent for this one; You can get this trophy on your first playthrough, but you have to get through the tutorial part of the game without dying... I believe this is from the start of the game through the end of the first mission where you have to get the food crate down.)

Platinum Trophy

infamous Platinum Trophy – Collect all other inFamous trophies.

I don’t think I need to explain this, do I?

Around the Network

I'm confused... could you please explain the last one?

4 ≈ One

I know that one's a bit vague, yes.
I'll pretend like you aren't joking and answer anyway. To get the Platinum Trophy for this game, you must first collect each of the other trophies. Once you've done that, it will unlock automatically. For help on the rest of the trophies, please see the other parts of my guide.

Hope that was helpful!

Thanks for it! I love exploring maps, so I think collecting all the blast shards won't be a big problem, buuuuut, just in case, can you send me that map? lol

I'm almost done with everything on the good side plus all the stuff from both sides, can't wait to replay the game being bad and get the Platinum. I'm having a little trouble with this trophy: Casey Jones - Take down 25 enemies while riding on a moving train. I'm not sure, but I think I'm on hard, but still this is annoying me lol. I have a question here: let's say I kill 20 enemies while on my first play, will I have to kill all 25 again or I'll need only 5 more to get this trophy on my second play?

Thx a lot for your guide!

I'm pretty sure it'll have to be all in one playthrough. Otherwise it'd be really easy. I had some problems with this one too. When you're getting the trains moving again in each section, don't get off to kill any guys; stay on the first car and blast as many guys as you can while the train is still going. After you've gotten all the trains running and if you still don't have the trophy, there are some guys on rooftops that you can kill while on the trains (this is easier if you haven't done many side missions though).

Around the Network

That's the thing, I did almost all the side missions =/ When I saw that trophy it was kinda late. Even though I can still do this, it may be better to leave it for my next game then.

Thanks again!

Yeah, I did the same thing my first time through. It's a lot easier to get if you go for it while you're playing through the story. I didn't mind missing it my first time through though, since it gave me another reason to play the game again.

Hard finish is possible on first play through, I did mine as a hero on my first playthrough.
You need to go through the "tutorials" without dying. If you do well, you get "promoted" to hard and as long as you don't alter the hard mode, not even once. It's yours.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Thanks, I've added this to the OP. The "tutorial" part goes through the mission where you go to Archer's Square to get the food crate down, right?

Just what I need, now I'll try and get that platinum.
