Not listening to it all but i heard enough...

Pros -

  • Maxwell gave the best feedback overall.
  • TKS sounds like chris griffion which adds lol worthy effect.
  • they covered quite abit.
  • the sales talk was good.
  • and lastly the overall clarity was good, voices were very much hear-able.

Cons -

  • 60Mins = Far to long, 15 mins sounds about right.
  • Not nearly enough talk about PSP, almost nothing.
  • Slightly to much talk about the Wii, got slightly irritating.
  • Some parts when they were talking sounded weird, such as short fade outs and beeps.
  • Lack of Maxwell air-time.

---

Result - 3 out of 5

it could have been better but it was in the end informative and semi-pro-ish i liked it much more then ANY of IGN's podcasts thats for sure, but it needs more versatillty and guess people from the forums to add more to the podcast as a whole. i vote Darthdevion and makingmusic! ahh and Outlawauron!

Read my post above

And yeah, it was a slow week and we tried to cover GotY so when you enter a discussion about favorite games its going to center around those guys favorite games, like for one I've played and loved Uncharted 2's online but only a bit of the singleplayer, its not like I can comment a lot, while I'm the only one with a PSP in the chat and I did comment on LBP PSP, I could have commented more about the lineup being pretty good this year especially vs last year but sadly it didn't enter my head lol

Finally people should start sending in user questions, I've got an email you can send them to pmaxwell@vgchartz.com, and we'll get around to answering as much as we can, we promise :P we want this to be big on the community ^_^

Needs work. Definitely a good start but needs a lot of polish haha. As someone has done over 20 podcasts, the first one is always the hardest. Just getting started and really trying to find a niche on the flow of things.

For some pointers, mic quality is a necessity. That means either better mics or better editing. Second for something that is going to be a staff their needs to be good and interesting discussions that deal with sales and some insider stuff to grasp the attention of members. Meaning make each one special. Length is not so much of a problem but it becomes a problem if you aren't doing much which it seemed like. I've had podcasts last almost 3 hours but if you are talking about something that engages people, just like a movie it won't matter. However usually 30 minutes to an hour is a good time limit.

Other than that it is a good first attempt. Can't wait to see how this progresses. Also I'm quite the veteran at podcasts so if yall need my help or want some more advice from experience my mailbox is always open.

And yeah, I agree with Barozi. Too pro-Nintendo, but with the guys that were participating, you can't help it, that's just the way they are.

O rly?  How so exactly? And I'm guessing you wouldn't discuss what you like in an opinion based feature such as a podcast?  Fact is we made sure to cover a lot of news on every console, I own all the consoles and actively play them all, same for Sensei & Kitchen with the exception of PSP, and most of the discussions spanned the GotY picks, so yeah every console was covered... >_>

That's not a complaint, just an observation. I know how you all like the Wii, so you'll talk about it a lot.

If I ever end up there, I'll push the PS3/DS in the the spotlight.

While pretty much everything I'm going to say has already been mentioned, I thought I'd still chime in just so there is another person's opinion. Overall I was very impressed, and it was a great first effort.
Things to be improved
-I do think it is too long, (that goes for any podcast over 30 minutes usually) even though you covered a lot.
- More exclusive info to encourage people to listen. Having ioi or the Source reaveal some exclusive sales info would be great. Or if when somebody has an advanced copy of a game to review, if you could get them on to give a little information about it that would be good too.
-Like previously mentioned, there are parts where the sound quality falters.
-Finally, and I think this will improve as more podcasts are made, would just for the conversations to feel more natural. I think for a podcast to be enjoyable everyone needs to sound energetic/excited without going on too many random tangents (which is why I can't stand the IGN podcasts).

Again, overall I was very impressed and think you did a great job.

I listen to podcats on my phone (n95) so i cant listen as there is no direct down load path

Guys well done it was very good.

The mic quality is a problem & can we have some more segments?!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Finally got a chance to listen to it.

- It does seem a tiny bit pro-Nintendo. Ya know what i dont care. I have had to unsubscribe to like ~5 podcasts this year because of there anti-Nintendo BS (IGN being the latest). So now im happy to get one thats a little slanted to my console of choice.

- Mic quality needs work no doubt

- Seems to be a bit of talking over each other and pauses waiting for others to talk. This didnt bother me too much as its just something you need to work on as you get more experiance doing a podcast.

- I found the information interesting. A lot of it people from this site may already know, but for people who dont know about VGChartz its great.

- Lenth was great, thats what she said, sorry nm...lol...Seroisely 1 hr is a perfect podcast lenth. Maby need more segemnts, ie listener mail and stuff, but that will come in time. Also maby a "What have we been playing this week" segemnt in the begining.

I listen to about 20 diffrent podcasts. I have 800+ ep's of them on my comp atm. I work at a place where i cant listen to my Ipod all day and i have a couple 12 hour days. My point is i have also of experience listening to podcasts and this is a solid 3/5...And im ganna give it a 4/5 just becasue I like it that much.

I really hope you guys keep it up and make it bigger and better.

Ok! So I just listened to it, so here goes my review! :)

- As said before, a bit Nintendo oriented a times, when the list of big games was being mentioned, at first I thought you were diving it into consoles (Wii first, 360 next, PS3 last). But when you threw a few games in there like Splinter Cell and FFXIII in the middle of all the Wii games, I realized I was wrong. Point is, there were some good games coming out early which were left unmentioned. Not a big deal though.

- Better mics, this is a given, don't need to say much here.

- You should really ask the community to submit questions or topics to the podcast, that way you can get the community really involved, so even if you did have a 45 - 60 minute Podcast, it wouldn't seem so long since it's something the community would be interested in.

- Talk to Khuutra about the unofficial podcast, maybe something can be worked out, and they can become one. The unofficial podcast has a lot of good ideas and talent. Maybe you can find some technical support from there if needed.

-
Like KylieDog said, too much dead air at times, you may need to outline the timeline of the podcast a bit better.

- You guys should rotate your speakers, that way everyone gets a chance to talk. This way we will have multiple views across all platforms, maybe this way things will seem more balanced.

All in all, excellent first attempt guys! :) Look forward to more. 3/5.
