i'm thinking both will be up YOY in 2010 and wii will win again
I seriously doubt it. NSMB Wii has propelled Wii to ridiculous heights in Japan. I know it's currently the holiday season but the Wii still outsold PS3 by a pretty big margin even with FFXIII and the seasonal effects for PS3.
NeoMatrix said: You are underestimating the power of Gran Turismo 5, like some people did with NSMB. Also, you should better list new Wii games, that will pass atleast 200k in Japan during 2010. |
Is that in reference to NSMB Wii > GT5? GT has always sold less than FF in Japan. I expect anywhere from 1.1-1.5mil for GT5, which is easily in NSMB Wii's reach for the year.
As for games passing 200k, I don't see why we must discern the new from the old - older games push hardware all the same. In that category, we have NSMB Wii (1mil+), Wii Fit Plus / Wii Sports Resort (500k+), then PokePark / Taiko 2 / Mario Kart Wii (200k+). These old games on their own are enough for most of the new PS3 releases, the only older game from the PS3 that will make 200k+ is FFXIII.
For new games, there aren't many announced for 2010. SMG2, Wii Vitality, and Zelda Wii are all 2010 and definite 500k+, though I don't know what else Nintendo will come up with.
gt5 isnt that big in japan guys, stop saying it is. 1.4-1.5 lifetime there

Top20 best selling PS3 games in Japan for 2009. 1 Final Fantasy XIII 1,696,373 VS 1 Gran Turismo 5 These are known games for today, which are most likely to sell over 100k in 2010. |
Front Mission and Nier won't break 100k. And Power Pro 2010 isn't for PS3, it's Wii/PS2.
I voted "Yes by a little." PS3 was really, really close in 09. Wii has lost a lot of momentum in Japan--but who knows...find out next year.

So will Wii, therefore, if Wii won in 2009, it will win in 2010 |
What kind of logic is that?! Sorry but the PS3 lineup up till now is better for 2010, GT5+ FF versus+ Yakuza+ most 3rd party 200k+ sellers vs what? we have Zelda Wii and SMG2(both arent that influential in japan anymore). Sorry Avinash but sometimes i feel you're just out there to annoy people

ROFL. another funny comment, lets see NSMB Wii will probably outsell most of those PS3 games combined on its own in 2010, the Vitality sensor will outsell pretty much all of them, combined, so yeah, keep telling yourself PS3 has the better lineup ROFL, and that's excluding all the other Wii games, all I need is those two to show you that Wii has the better lineup for 2010, ROFL, so try again.
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
