As some of you may remember, I opened a thread about a week ago about a problem with my PS3 (60gb launch model). Unfortunately, it succumbed to the dreaded YLOD. I decided that, rather than send it off for repairs now and wait, get it back and forever have a less reliable model (the whole, once it breaks it is only a matter of time until it happens again thing), I went to HMV and bought a PS3 Slim. I got the 250gb with 2 games (R&C: ACIT and NFS: Shift) for €349.99. The console itself was €349.99, or the 120gb was €299.99, so basically I got 130gb + 2 games for an extra €50.
In some ways, I'm actually happy the original PS3 broke. Sure, I'd be happier if I didn't have to shell out a chunk of cash for my new PS3, but I doubt I would have picked up R&C: ACIT or NFS: Shift had they not been bundled with the new system. I loved the original R&C on PS2 and NFS: Most Wanted on PSP, but I never bought any of the others again. I'm absolutely loving both games, so it seems that the YLOD was a blessing (although a very expensive one) in disguise.
