Why Xbox 360? I loved you!

It died in 2008 when I was playing the demo for Banjo Kazooie nuts and bolts. It died just now while I was playing Viva Pinata Party Animals with my kid. Is RARE the problem here?

Anyway, I'm probably over reacting. It's just under a year old (probably by a week or two). It should be under warranty. I'll tamper with it today. If it doesn't get going, I'll send it in. It hurts, though. It hurts.

Maybe you play it too much?

That's what they said about my masturbation.  They were wrong then and DAMMIT, they're wrong now!

Look at my collection.  I just bought 5 Xbox 360 games YESTERDAY.  I keep my 360 on an entertainment center and in a well ventilated area.  I install every game I intend to play on the HDD to save wear and tear on the system.  My 360 RRoD'd on me twice AND the disc drive died.  I didn't let it deter me.  I still sang Microsoft's praises.  I didn't hesitate to buy a 2nd brand new 360 in January of last year.  Now, my disc drive is dead again.  $400 for my first 360.  $300 for my second.  I STILL can't play my 360 games?  What more do you want from me, Microsoft?

Fuck it.  I give up.

I feel bad for you. People need to not support a company that makes such a poor product.

You should never have bought the second one...I guess its an interesting fact that the system has so many good games that these players keep putting up with this kinda shit.

I wanted to get an HD system about 6 months ago....2 reasons i went with Sony was better value, free wifi and online gaming, and the problems so many people seem to have with the 360's breaking.

But doesn't all the hair from your knuckles getting caught in the controller and impending blindness impede onto your gaming somewhat?

couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

I have not nearly the amount of patience you have. I was done on one RROD, which happened very early on in my ownership. Sold it to my friend who sent it in for warranty, and now he has more games than I do! It rrod'd on him twice again last year, but that's not an issue for him.

I don't care if you replace my system. I want compensation for the time I lost when I couldn't use a piece of equipment I bought. Good news is my friend doesn't pay for live because of all the rrods it's had. I don't find that nearly enough compensation though.
I think that if a console RRODs on you, you should get your pick of any game you want. That's only fair.

it seems it happens to people more often than others, my friend had the normal Xbox and it RRODed on him twice , then he gave up on repairing it and got the elite and it was working for a year.

i guess its just tough luck

got the elite and it was working for a year.

You make it sound like an accomplishment that it worked for a year >_>

I feel the same way, I'm on my 6th 360 , in 2 years, and also well vented area, one open shelf down from my original PS3. I don't get it. I had 4 RROD, ! dead disc drive, and 1 video card died, I"M actually on my 7th 360, 6 have died and i'm using my 7th console from them. Really what it has done is make me use and but everything I can on my PS3 and only get the exclusives I have to have on 360, nothing worse then spending a bunch of money on games, comming home and the fucking 360 dies before you can even play any of them. So I'm with you on this one.

While I haven't touched my 360 in over 5-6 months since I gave it to my Mother so she could play some Silent Hill on it, mine hasn't given me a single problem since I purchased it in February 2008.

I put a massive amount of playtime into it as well as many 8-10 hour gaming sessions.
