Come on now, the idea that Kojima being a better developer than Miyamoto is just laughable. Looking at entire careers, I have a time believing some people think this.

frankly, Miyamoto isnt that great. He is mostly a one trick pony that people doesnt seem to get sick of.He isnt in the same league as John Carmack, Sid Meyers, Gabe Newell, or any of the other highly respected leaders in the industry. To put things lightly, most indie developers make better and more innovative games then Miyamoto has in over a decade.

Eh, I attribute Zelda and Mario to Miyamoto as well as several other stable series, and therefore I would disagree with your statement completely.

I would agree with you BUT. Theres one thing you're overlooking. Each main entry of Zelda and Mario are completely different then the last since the jump to 3D.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

"ZOE" 3 and am happy

Super Mario 64 -> Super Mario Sunshine -> Super Mario Galaxy had no change?! Did you not play these games?

I'm not going to start by commenting that you think Zelda hasn't changed either. I will say the core gameplay hasn't changed much since Ocarina of Time but the handhelds versions are different.

Modern Warfare 2 has inspired Kojima

Hideo Kojima is probably the most legendary game developer in the business.

What about Shigeru Miyamoto? He developed the Mario and the Zelda series. MGS is afterall, only a 4 game series, no matter how good it is, and Miyamoto changed the ways 2d games were played with Mario and Zelda, and then he...invented the way 3d games are played with Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. Most recently, he's changed the ways gaming will be played in the future with Wii Fit, and his contribution to motion controls which ALL consoles are now fully adopting.

Kojima is an epic developer but probably IS NOT the most legendary game developer in the business, as long as Miyamoto is around, imho.

the metal gear franchise is not only 4 games, and he has created several other AMAZING games. Miyamoto only seems capable of mostly only mario and Wii titled games.

Somebody may have corrected you guys by now, but when I read these two posts, I could not continue reading the thread withot replying.  Miyamoto has given us games like Starfox, F-Zero, Pokemon, and even Eternal Darkness.  Kojima has given us games like Zone of the Enders, Snatcher, and Boktai.  In your attempts to build up your developer of choice, you're both diminishing the amazing achievements of the other developer.  Both of you need to stop being closed minded.

Kojima and Miyamoto are considered the among the cream of the crop for a reason.  Statements like "Kojima has only made 4 games" or 'Miyamoto is only able to make Mario and Wii titled games" make both of you seem a little ignorant.  You don't have to like them, but please respect them.

I apologize for that wall of text. Best platforming action/adventure type game ever belongs to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. No doubt Miyamoto is also up there but he has yet to touch the depth offered in even the very first Metal Gear title in the NES with the Outer Heaven conflict. On a side note I enjoyed the first pitfall on the atari 2600 more than I ever enjoyed SMB 1. It wasn't until SMB3 that I was wowed by true innovation. Oh and as a Nintendo loyalist I hope you do realize SMB2 was exactly the same as SMB1 except harder. What americans know as SMB 2 is doki doki panic with Mario skins thrown in for good measure.

Hey, in case you didn't know (and you don't seem to) 'Castlevania Symphony of the Night' was actually a total rip-off of Metroid (though a great game none the less) which is a nintendo franchise!

I would have thought someone who seems to be so knowledgible in the history of video games would know that!

Are you honest on that one??? The only ressemblance between the two is that they are both platformers. Like others said before, theres castlevania games on Nintendo. But then they had experience and level up, stats, magic, familiars, a lot of item to use and equip. Its nowhere resembling a metroid title.

Why do people keep calling the multiplat MGS a sequel? It's a completely new game and genre and dev team..

Its more of a prequel, but since it continues the original story it can be seen as a sequel. If it flops expect the Series to move back to exclusiveness for PS3

lately, all the games that have left ps3 exclusivity have been critical failures.

Well, maybe that is due to angry ps3 fans, but so far both tekken and ff13 have been critically thrashed.

tekken 6 on ps3 is not even arcade perfect even though the arcade game is played on a ps3.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
