Forums - Sony Discussion - Uncharted 2 ? Over hyped ?

Yeah I agree with you, it was an action movie type feeling but I felt the gameplay didn't quite live up to itself. It had patches of brilliance but the overall way they put the gameplay together just gave me a nagging feeling, like I felt with Killzone 2 that it wasn't quite put together 100% and that was a little more annoying than even more flawed gameplay because it just wasn't quite there but close enough for me to say to myself "with a tweak here and there..."

Tease.

If Uncharted 2 was overhyped, then MGS4 was SUPER MEGA RIDICULOUSLY overhyped. :P

As a exclusive its going to draw more attention

hell no its not overhyped it was everything i wanted it was one of the saddest moments of my life beating that game because i knew it was finished .

I LOVE UNCHARTED 2

A bit overhyped yes, but no too much

Gameplay is exactly the same as in Uncharted 1. It's just a bit longer and has multiplayer.

But hardly the game of the gen or something I hear so often from enthusiastic PS3 fans.

I disagree on the red part. A whole lot was improved from Uncharted to Uncharted 2.

Cover mechanics, platforming... The shooting/aiming. And Uncharted 2 feels much smoother than the original.

Oh, and a quick edit... Stealth was also in Uncharted 2!

Screw you and your quick posting, CGI

It's a slightly overhyped, kinda forgettable game that has amazing graphics, and overall, I'd give it a 9/10. You've got to remember, exclusives are gonna be overhyped, always, and any game that innovates as little as Uncharted 2 does, probably isn't going to be many people's "best game of all time" no matter how good it is.

That said, the game oozes quality in design, and technical expertise. It's the Avatar of videogames. It's a popcorn flick....but it's the ULTIMATE popcorn flick....still doesn't make it comparable to Godfather II, but remember, popcorn flicks are the most popular films, so you are going against the tide when you claim dissapointment. Most people want exactly what this game has to offer, and you, like myself, are probably in a niche of gamers who prefer games like Radiant Dawn and Valkyria Chronicles, to titles like Galaxy 2 and Uncharted 2.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

A tad bit over hyped I thought.  Definitely an improvement over the first one though...and I did play it 5 times in a row.

Graphics = Awesome

Gameplay = Fun

Story / Voice acting = Awesome

But at the end of the game, I didn't feel the sense of epicness that I felt after beating MGS4 or God of War II. In those games, I felt that I had gone on a long epic journey....while U2 felt...like an action movie....I don't know what I'm saying either but it wasn't "OMGWTFBBQ this game is one of the best games of all time !"

In my opinion the fact that it felt like an action film only lent to why its such a great game. Uncharted shouldn't have felt epic, it should have felt like a wild ride, which it did.

I love playing those niche games too, but I must say I need a solid action game here and there and both the Uncharted's have delievered exactly what I asked for, the sequel improving the formula to make the game that much more enjoyable.
