What place will the ps3 end up in at the end of this Gen?

I say third, just because I see Microsoft releasing the next XBox system before the PS3 happens to surpass the 360 worldwide. Even if it is twp 360 systems duct-taped together, and including Natal in it, it will likely happen. And thus, "this generation" would be over.  Microsoft said they will end up ahead of Sony this generation, so even with smoke and mirrors, it is likely to happen.

Now, as for TOTAL sales lifetime of 360 vs PS3, the odds are greater the PS3 overtakes it.

NO, you're completely wrong. I'm willing to bet it will move consoles.

Of course it will move consoles.........every game does that to some degree.....but it wont move them in the way that a GT or Halo do......to be a system seller you must have a big brand and GOW isnt a big brand.

its a massive brand in canada, wont move many consoles because all of the canadians who want it already have a ps3

Why so? No, God of War doesn't sell Gears like numbers, at least it hasn't to date. What God of War III does is anybody's guess. I just know it is one of the most anticipated games of 2010, as Gears of War III would be if it were announced for a release this year. Gears will probably always beat it in sales, but is it as bg a franchise as God of War? After all, Kratos is one of the most recognized faces in the industry.

That's why I say sales play a big part in popularity, that goes without saying. But I think God of War can compete with Gears on that level, despite the lower sales.

You said it yourself that you dont see GOW 3 passing 4 mil so let me ask you this.......why do you believe one game you dont see passing 4 mil have just as much brand recognition as a game that could easily pass 5 mil and even go up to 6 mil?

If there was a tier system for brands Gears would definitely be in the first tier with the likes of GT , Halo , GTA , MW , Mario and MGS while GOW would be in the second tier with Uncharted , Mass Effect , Fallout etc.

The fact of the matter is is that Gears is definitely a bigger brand than GOW and quite frankly I cant take someone seriously who believes otherwise.

I asked him his thoughts about America, regarding it buying the 360 more than the PS3.  I await for "Stupid" to be said.
