Forums - Sony Discussion - So i played FFXII again..

..and i hate it for liking it suddently.

My thoughts about it are the same, (my memories about it were almost gone, but at least i remembered the places, and the unholy puzzles) its built around the battle system (i hated it back then, but now i was capable to make a Ubergroup ^_^, so i simply didnt get it right 3 years ago), the story is enjoyable, nothing special because of simple characters, but its..  ok.

without the exceptions to have big story twists and drama everywhere,  its a great, polished game, and i am glad that i gave it another shot, but its - even after my second run - more of a Vagrant Story 2, mixed with FF Tactics as a real Final Fantasy. (to be honest, i think it should have been something different first, but square saw the potential of this game and renamed it Final Fantasy, to realize their intentions to put FFXIII on Next-Gen Consoles).

so... and now i want to play FFXIII. :P

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

Everything in this game is very well done beside story and characters. It's fun to explore, to fight, to complete your monster log, to hunt, gameplay is where it's at for FF XII. It's just very flexible and enjoyable... the graphics are VERY GOOD, too. Music is good.

Sadly, Vaan & Co. manage to spill garbage all over this game.

i liked the story once i read about the backstory on the internet, i was "ohhhh so THATS why" the backstory is huge, i don't know why they didn't add it to the game but its probably the same tactic used to WRPGs , WRPGs backstory is not told fully in the game, which makes people enjoy "Discovering" it from multiple sources or books.

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

- Wasteland - The Mission.

They DID add the backstory to the game

They talk about it constantly

How dare you put Vagrant Story and FFXII in the same sentence. Vagrant Story was a much better game than FFXII in all aspects except for graphics. Such a highly underrated game (saleswise). I am waiting on my next check so I can make a PAL PSN account and get VS (unless someone wants to trade it with me ).

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Yes! It's right there in the bestiary, specifically in the Esper entries!

If you want to go back even further you'd look in the alternatives bestiary entries for other monsters, which are unlocked after killing a certain number of each beast. But the whole plot is right in there!

I'm glad they didn't weave that stuff in the main plot. It wouldn't have made sense and would have been way, waaaay too clunky.

yeah thats what im saying its a back story they didn't put it in the game's plot (ie the characters talk about it). like how WRPGs do it. you know how in elder scrolls you find a book and read it ?

its also nice that it was related to Tactics and Vagrant story in some way. i really liked that about FFXII , and alot of people missed it , it seems.

i personally read all about it on an internet site ( this ) , didn't get to read all the esper entries.

Me and the wife completed the bestiary specifically for that reason, to find out about the history of the world, but again, I think I prefer it that way. The focus of the plot as-is was razor sharp, and would have suffered from dealing with the mythic origins of one group of your enemies.

FF12 was the worse than FF7-10. It had the worst cast by a mile.
