so i got a xbox 360 from a friend. bought a controller. an a 512mb memory for the 360. now my question is im goin to hook it up to the internet tommrow an i was wondering what can you do on xbox live? (silver membership) is there any way to talk to your friends. an is there any other stuff u can do with it????

Silver can do everything except play online (except during certain eevnts but those are extreemly rare). SInce you dont have a harddrive you wont be able to use silver to download demos, movies or DLC. However you can still talk with other 360 owners, I also think you';ll be able to use MSN Messenger without a HDD unless I;m mistaken, the online update that enables that isn't installed on the HDD. But you should really get yourself a 20gb harddrive realy make use of silver/. Now you can only talk to others and download small arcade games.

well dude i have a ps3 an a 500gb hard drive. so i dont need to get one with the xbox. all my demos will be on my ps3. so im good

What about exclusive games or exclusive demos? Also, you should get one for DLC, mandatory content installs, and optional installs to reduce load times.

With the silver, you could download most demos, some of the newer ones you cant download for 4=6 days. But you need a Hard Drive. You can chat, Thats about it, You Really need to buy a hard drive, you are very limited with out one. The memory card is good to put your profile on, so when you go to friends house you can take with you and play on your profile at there house. You get all your trophies and gamer points. If you go to a game store you can usually find a used HD 120 gig for 90 bucks or so. I just sold my old 20gig. One thing that kinda sucks is you have to buy MS HD for the 360. if not you could gey a 500gig for 85 bucks new. Good luck.

dont really care much for demos. an games on the xbox 360 take about 1mb to 10mb of memory. so 512mb is more then enough. an i dont really play too much demos even on the ps3. lol idk i just prefer to buy the game.

iirc there are no mandatory installs on 360, only on ps3, which has a mandatory hard drive.

I heard a rumor that there might be one for ff13, but I doubt it. A mandatory install is prohibited by MS, i think.

My suggestion is to hit the classics bin and pick up 4-5 titles on the cheap to flesh out your library quickly so you can start enjoying the console asap for what its designed for.
