No. Not to derail the thread, but, especially in the early part of the decade, Sonic team put out some of the best games of the past 10 years: Phantasy Star Online (especially the GC and Xbox version, episodes I & II), and Sonic Adventure 2, the superlative 3D platformer of all time, and second-best game of all time, after only Metroid Prime.

They could get the award of the 90s maybe cause they were probably one of the best devs back then. But Sonic Adventure 2 and Phantasy star Online are the only two good games I can think of that they did in the 2000s.

2002 and on they've done shit...and understandably so. Yuji Nake moved on, the other creator of sonic went to Naughty Dog and Sega became a Sonic milk machine.

AVP2 is the scariest fucking game ever made. I mean seriously... Granted only the third as the marine, but holy fucking shit. you don't need supernatural stuff in your games to make you shit your pants.

THE FUCKING MOTION SENSOR WAS THE WORST! What a useless piece of junk....

 

Edit: It's still the scariest thing you will see in a game. Also I'm sad that the new AVP will probably suck the big one. Probably has console design choices (like FEAR 2 did, look at how that turned out) stuck so far up its ass that it is beyond all hope of salvage.

It hasn't been that long since F.E.A.R. 2, and I haven't heard anything about problems at the studio. I'm sure they're working on something; just give them time.

And yeah, Monolith was great in the late 90s/early 2000s. I was an id fanboy back then, but I still enjoyed Monolith's games.

I know it doesnt count for much but the guys who did AvP1 are doing the new AvP game. That game comes out in a few months and I still havent seen a solid gameplay video. Not a good sign...

I thought you were talking about Monolith Soft, which is Nintendo 1st party now. Who knew there were 2 companies called Monolith, (one "... Soft", the other "... Productions")

Anyways, it is possible that they are being absorbed into Warner Bros. as they are starting to make more games. Either that, or Warner Bros. is following the Nintendo model of don't announce anything until you can release in ~6 months.




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

really. i think rebellion(people doing avp 3 and also did avp 1) are doing a great job with the new alien vs predator. the game looks fantastic.

It looked as if they had a unlimited amount of flares, and I wasn't sure but I don't think the motion sensor detected anything that moved, just living things. If both are true the game is already goig downhill.
