Kind of disappointed with the development in Bakuman. It has been building up for a while, and perfect crime is what they came up with?

why are you disappointed?

Im really impressed with what they came up with, much better than their previous gag manga. let's see how they'll pull it off.

I thought about creating a thread about this topic but since this is a "Manga thread" I thought it would be more suitable to post it here:

Who's, in your opinion, the most underrated mangaka?

He/She can be a writer, artist or both.

Yeah it's much better than their previous gag manga, but I don't know, it felt kind of underwhelming. I guess it depends on what they do with it (not that we'd really be able to see that).

Been reading Shin Angyo Onshi, it's pretty cool. I actually read at least 5 chapters before since it was all familiar.

SAO is bit boring in first chapters. Plus the guy looks like annoying asshole in them ;) It get's more interesting later.

Are you making a comment on his appearance? Or more that he seems like an annoying asshole? I didn't feel that way anyways, right and wrong isn't so simple as helping people or hurting people, so I never judged him based on his actions like that.

You know, I didn't see your post until you said this.

Author: Kim Daewoo

Since Id is the best manga (well manwha) ever, and no one here will read it, I figured I'd mention Kim Daewoo.

All in all, I don't actually know many mangaka by name, other than Adachi Mitsuru, whose stuff is awesome. While I can recognize when something is by the same artist (Hikaru no Go, Death Note, Bakuman) (Suzuka, Kimi no Iru Machi, Cross Over) that doesn't mean I know or remember their names.

I suggest checking out this site if you want to know a mangaka's published work: http://myanimelist.net/anime.php

It doesn't have all the info on all the mangaka but it's still useful.

that being said, I really have to check out Id(judging by the way you praise it). and you know what I'll start tonight.

My choice for most underrated mangaka would be: Komi Naoshi

His one-shots are simply amazing, he tells very simple and yet very deep stories. the humor in his works is actually very funny because unlike most shonen manga he doesn't rely on too much fan-service to be funny. His artwork is very good and beautiful. I suggest checking out his best manga IMO, "Island".

It's really hard to talk about Id without giving stuff away, which makes it hard for me to say anything other than "it's the best, go read it". There are so many unsolved questions even within the first few chapters, and I love the mystery.. But it really breaks the mold of normal battle-manga.

The story is great, the characters are good and there is a lot of comic relief. Situational humor is my favorite kind of humor in a manga, and Id, for something that doesn't completely focus on comedy, does an excellent job of providing good situational humor.

There are times when I like OP or HxH or Ubel Blatt a little bit more, but then a new chapter of Id is released, and all is well again =)

Finished Shin Angyo Onshi, it was pretty good.

OP- http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/75222014/1
Naruto- http://mangastream.com/read/naruto/34044170/1
HxH- http://mangastream.com/read/hunter_x_hunter/28952338/1

I'm kind of already bored with this OP arc. It's cool to find out about their past, but come on, we haven't seen the crew in like 200 chapters (or 80ish?).

HxH was crazy! I'm more interested in what's going on with Gon though, so hopefully they'll get to that again next week.

And does anyone read Kimi no Iru Machi? I should have seen that twist coming, but I didn't predict it until like 2 pages before. I normally don't get surprised like that, most manga is very predictable (other than some extreme mature stuff), so it kind of hit me out of nowhere. But it really kind of explained everything that's been happening, so that's good.
