Forums - Sony Discussion - I just beat FFIX and it...was...

Where does 9 rank? Easy- it's my 7th favorite of the mainline games; ahead of it is 6, 5, 4, 3, 1, and 2.

Suikoden 2 is possibly(probably) the greatest game ever made.

Perfect story, cast, gameplay, music...

Just, perfect.

This post was edited by zexen. I know it!

Nope.

Check my history, i've always loved the game. I've actually beat it more times than he has.

I don't know if you need to be proud of how absolutely crazy you are. I mean, I love the game more than any other, sure, but even with that I cannot stomach the number of playthroughs you have....

Quoted + Screenshotted for proof that i love Suiko 2 more than zexen

FFIX is also my favourit FF along with FFVI and the only PS1 game I've kept (aside from Lunar Silver Star Story and Legend of Dragoon)

It's hard for me to decide between VII and IX. IX probably wins because of Vivi.

Suikoden 2 is better than IX, but not by a long shot. IX has better music. Suikoden II's music is a lot more blunt. Actually everything Suikoden II does is blunt.

I guess the games are way too diferent to compare.

I'm tired of putting games ahead of others like there's an objective way to look at it. There isn't. I know what I like and I know what I don't like. Those 2 categories are more than enough. Leave this grating bullshit for people who get paid for it.

I'm one of the few who puts FFIX pretty low in the list. Still much better than my other games, but when it comes to FF, it's below FF7, 8, 10, 12 and 6. The story, music and characters were awesome just like the other FFs, but there was a lack of sidequests and power gaming that's present in the other FFs. I think it's the only FF I completed only once.

Final Fantasy VIII will always be my favorite Final Fantasy game, but 9 was a good game

It's my least favorite FF of the ones I've played till completion/nearly till completion (if I were to include the ones I've played just for a few hours, that "award" would go to FF4)

I've never understood the fascination everyone has with that game

This.

In fact, I don't remember anything from the plot, heck, I don't even remember the character' names, wich I do even for FFVIII wich I didn't like too much either. That's a very bad sign for me regarding the game.

Now that Suikoden II is mentioned, I would like to add that I tink it's marvelous, and has one of the better plots I've ever played. The feeling of being surrounded by the enemy's army for a lot of the time is great, and Luca Blight stands for me as one of the meaniest villains ever...behind Kefka  of course.

By the way, I don't know if the strategic battles of Suikoden borrow from something similar before it, but when I looked later at Advanced Wars, I always thought it was a ripoff of it.

One of the few rpg's Ive beated multiple times, I absolutely love ff9, its for sure my favorite. And Ive played and like just about every final fantasy created, but ff9 takes the cake. That damn music always kept me coming back for more, havent really had a game do to me what this one has. Still searchin for that high, *sigh*

Final Fantasy 9 was a very charming jrpg but I don't really see what was so amazing about it. I like my storylines complex while FF9's storyline was very simple so I guess that is the reason why I don't like it as much as other people. Also, "Trance" fails compared to the "Limit Break" of FF7 and FF8, "Overdrive" of FF10 and "Quickenings" of FF12 IMO.
