I honestly do not see this game selling much (and I really hope i'm wrong).
It just seems to me like it will have a hard time selling 7-8 million.

No. 3D Mario is a different animal, and same-generation sequels don't seem to be doing as well on Wii in general.
Not that it will do poorly. I'm thinking about 5 million or so.
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
if it sells at least 8 million then it will be good enough for me!
Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,
mario maker
new 3ds
yoshi woolly world
zelda U
majora's mask 3d
I think it'll have a larger opening week than Super Mario Galaxy (the first game sold 1,061,000 copies in its opening week WW)... but as for overall sales... I just don't know.
It'll be fun to watch however, and even more fun to play.
Shonen said: its a good point that you made here , i think it can sell more than the first galaxy , cuz its a game that both hardcores and casual will buy it , and its a fact there much more people in this world who likes mario now , than at the time when galaxy one comes out |
"casual" gamers didn't buy the first game.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs
Mario's a beast. It could do anywhere from 10 million all the way up to 20mil.
The expanded audience and Japan have no interest for Super Mario Galaxy. Even with an increased userbase, this audience won't be enthused.
We haven't seen the game since E3, but perhaps Nintendo is finding a way to open this game up to the expanded audience. I'm hoping for a more robust co-play mode that allows up to 4 players and actually makes a big difference in the gameplay.

I hope Galaxy 2 does outsell Galaxy 1. I think it would be pretty tough, but hey, you never know. I think it will do at least around 7 mil.
