Forums - Nintendo - If Nintendo's next console is HD:

Do you think it will recieve tons of ports of this-gen PS3/360 titles (in the same way gets a lot of PS2 ports)?

No, this generation's HD games are based around classic controllers, it would be too much work to totally remake them for up-to-date controls, they could as well make more games.

What's all this "if" business

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

I thnk Nintendo will probably not refresh the entire platform around video output. From what I've been reading from what I've been readng it seems more likely they would adopt an option of upscaling the picture, if anything. So he answer is probably no, third parties will go away slowly not because of the consoles they're developing for, but for their design choices.

Confession: I've been playing PS3 on my HDTV for the past few months with an HDMI cable, looks beautiful.

That said, I just got a Wii and hooked it up to my TV on stadard resolution, and I don't know what the fuss is all about. Granted, Ive pretty much only been playing Wii Sports thus far, but the image looks fine.

honestly, I find that HD isn't all that it's said to be.

maybe. Guess it depends on how much Nintendo, MS and Sony are willing to spend on 3rd party exclusives during the next gen.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Yeah, but all the PS2 games are based around PS2 controllers. That doesn't stop developers from lazily slapping on waggle-centric Wii-specific control schemes.

And Gnac, it's a rhetorical question (obviously).

Only reason Wii gets so many last gen ports is because the hardware is similar. We don't know whether Nintendo will try to keep up with MS and Sony next gen or if Wii HD will be closer to PS360 specs.

So this is a pretty pointless question.

Try setting the PS3 to the lowest possible resolution, then you will see the difference.
