Forums - Sony - FF Versus 13 "No Difference between CGI and Realtime Graphics" says Nomura.

Now that he speaks of working on an unannounced title that isn't a new IP....KH3 CONFIRMED! Lol...sure, Versus has been on my radar for some time now, and the fact that he wants to make CGI and real time look almost the same is great.....but I'll take KH3 over that anyday

New update Nomura is working on 2 New titles.

Talk about a busy guy. Tetsuya Nomura worked as main character designer on Final Fantasy XIII, director and designer for Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and ditto for Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

We forgot Final Fantasy Agito XIII! He's character designer for that, too.

In the most recent issue of Famitsu, Nomura reveals that he is working on two unannounced titles. He gives some updates, saying that they are working to bring up the quality so that the difference between real time and pre-renders in the upcoming Final Fantasy Versus XIII is seamless. He also says that development for Agito is going favorably.

"There is a still yet unannounced title that I am working on sooner than thought," he says. Voice recording for this title has begun.

"It's not a brand new title, but there is one more unannounced title."

Well if it is true, they will do what naughty dog already did. In Uncharted 2 there are almost no difference between prerendered videos and in game.

there are no pre rendered scenes in Uncharted 2

Are you sure? Every single one of them look pre-rendered to me.

There are prerendered cutscenes actually. You just can't tell which is which.

Using the engine. There are no CGs in Uncharted 2. Again, Naughty Dog made this clear.

The original quote says no prerendered videos though.

So just to clarify: There are pre rendered videos (videos that have been recorded in game, then had polishing or whatever work done on them), but there are no CGI cut-scenes?

It's pretty easy to tell actually.  You can tell because of compression artifacts.  You know, for all the space that Bluray has, I'm always disappointed with how compressed videos are, especially 3rd party games.  Seems like they never take advantage of having more room on the Bluray.

It's also easy to tell because you can skip the prerendered cutscenes.

But, even in metal gear 4 you can perceive compression artifacts sometimes. 50 GB blu-ray is not enough anymore. Kojima said that they even had to cut something from the game. :(

Um actually not only in the cutscenes do you see compression artifcats but in the actual gameplay.. that was my original argument, and they left the thread..

Nope, no CGI.

CGI is a lote more expensive to produce than pre recorded videos made using game engine. In Final Fantasy XIII we will se alot of CGI.

I even blamed my hdmi cable for that. :) Because the game specifications says it is 1080p native. I felt a bit embarassed, but now i know this is normal. There is compression in this game.

Final Fantasy VII confirmed!

remake!

By the way, where is Yoshitaka Amano, Final Fantasy VI and IX designer?

This thread went really off-topic O.o

Amano co-worked on the Characters Designs for VI with Nomura and also co-worked with Toshiyuki Itahana on IX chars designs.

Amano is working on Versus XIII (Image Illustrator, Title logo, Promotional artwork), Lord of Vermillion (Card illustrator), and Final Fantasy XIV.
