Forums - Nintendo Discussion - It is a shame how much crap this great game(Crystal Bearers) is getting.

I'm about an hour in. It's interesting, at least. Good characters, if a bit predictable from the racial archetypes set forth in previous Crystal Chronicles games (like Belle the slutty/greedy/seedy Selkie). Though there's a lot of room for character development, and i like the main combat mechanic. Easy to figure out, but endlessly intricate in terms of interacting with your own world. Should be a fun open-worlder.

I got it. My first first-day purchase. Haven't played it yet (mall a few miles from my home and Gamestop lines really long), but I was convinced by reader impressions over the reviews (they freaking put down Modern Warfare just because it was the Wii version).

Plus it seemed there were only three copies left in the two shops in that mall, and our local Target seemed to be sold out (as well as all the shops being just sold out of Modern Warfare Reflex).

So hopefully this is a good sign for sales (not going to declare this anecdote to actually be representative).

If I'm not mistaken, you have to gravity shake some yellow bright funguses out in the forest so the path will open.

With big names comes big expectations. I would put this with the Chrono Cross syndrom. Chrono Cross in its own right was an amazing game but people saw Chrono and just assumed it would be JUST like Chrono Trigger.

I think the name Final Fantasy does the same for this game (and the other so called Spin-offs) Taken by themselves they are great, but with a name like FF the expectations sometimes get ridiculous as if magically they are supposed to be something supernatural.

Wait what? Last I checked Chrono Cross was praised to no end. Gamespot gave it a 10 (Gamespot is harsh and unbiased) and the general public loved it and gave it the credit it deserved. True there were skeptics but pretty much everyone that played it after trigger, fell in love with Chrono Cross.

My first impressions are that this game is what I suspected, a quirky Square game that the PS1 used to get, just called FF because S-E is using their top IPs almost as a crutch now.

Also, it blows out of the water any notion Bionic Commando couldn't work on the Wii, since the gameplay sure seems like proper 3D gameplay for it.

Yeah, the only thing that I extremely disliked about this game was the final boss fight. Not the gameplay itself, which was pretty great. It was just the setting. I'll just say that it fell to the "Over 9000" syndrome, just so I don't spoil it for some of you. After that, the ending was great. :D

i have a question, did SE ship very little of the game. i see some posters in walmart and target so i know they carry it but every place i look its sold out, as well as most of the wii software

Do you grow more powerful as the game progresses through your development of proper gear and whatnot? I seem to be having trouble killing off certain groups of enemies within the natural time limit, and am wondering if its a matter of my skill, or a matter of Layle's ability.

It seems to me other than health and equipment no. It seems pretty much all skill based. I also had trouble killing off some enemies as well.
