Forums - Gaming - Dante's Inferno similarity to God of War

What really amazed me was how similar opening chest in GoW and cracking water fountains in DI were so.... fuck you'd swear it was the exact same shit @_@. They're both even colored for what you're getting from the fountain.

I noticed this too and was shocked at how even the little things were very similar to GoW!  And the way the main character swings his weapons seemed so identical as to how Kratos does with his, just to make things different they gave him a different weapon.

I know games copy off another bits and pieces but this was actually the 2nd game that seemed completely ripped from GoW.  I literally felt like i was playing GoW just the hero looks different.

Not that the demo/game is bad but just thought there'd be a little more originalality.  Then again there's barely anything original in the media today in America.

1st game i noticed big rip was Art of Fighting ripping Street Fighter lol XD

Don't kill me but I slightly prefer Dante of GOW.

That's your personal preference and opinion and there's nothing wrong with it. But you can't deny the fact that Dante has majorly mimiced what God of War does.

Good artists copy, great artists steal.

GOW is kinda cheesy imo and I prefer the story in Dante. I will get both though.

I don't really care about exclusives I just buy good games. I'm not going to say "Killzone 2 is the greatest shooter ever made" It is not!

Anyway, The PS3 does get an exclusive Dante's Inferno special edition.

the only problem with dante is graphics, and combat is a bit slow with that stupid hammer.

It's incredible how much of a rip off this is. From the battle system, to some move animations, as well as the orb collection and even the bars on the top left looking eerily similar.

I know everyone here is annoyed that Dante's Inferno is ripping off GOW, but is it still a good game? If everything is exactly the same then it should still be good since God of War is a great game. If the quality is lowered like Conan then I could understand but as of right now no one had said it was bad except that it shamelessly rips off another game.

I think most people would agree that it will be a decent game. I for one enjoyed the demo. I think the problem is it's kinda hard to justify a purchase of DI with GoW3 coming and most of us expect GoW3 to be top-notch game. Right now, DI is just rental if anything to me.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I got to play Devil May Cry after playing God of War, and left feeling like Devil May Cry was a rip off of God of War.  It does seem like companies rip off one another.  This goes back to the day when there were popular arcade games, and you would see many home versions it, in different ways.  Defender, Pac Man, Donkey Kong, etc... all end up with a dozen clones of them at home.

DMC and GoW don't draw the same comparisons. Completely different styles and of course, you can shoot in DMC

Before Dante's Inferno, there was repeated comparisons between God of War and Devil May Cry.  In one interview with the lead designer of God of War, he even made mention of Devil May Cry.  Anyhow, it isn't the gameplay that makes God of War stand out, it is the story, acting and voice narrative that do.

Well, the gameplay is marvellous, but I do agree that the mythological setting really does sell it

The game play is very good in God of War, but it is the rest that makes it what it is.  When I originally commented on playing Devil May Cry after playing God of War, I was referring to the gameplay for the most part.  It is the rest that makes the difference.  I like God of War, but am not that big of a fan of Devil May Cry actually, and DMC4 really didn't get me interested in it.  I actually picked up the PS3 version of it, at  Blockbuster, to get another PS3 game, and it left me Ehhh...
