Ok.Please can anyone explain this rule? Its one of the terms of the competition.
"13. I warrant that I am the sole owner and author of said material, that I have registered said material with the Library of Congress, Writers Guild or equivalent, that I have the exclusive right and authority to submit the same to them upon the terms and conditions stated herein. I will indemnify them and their clients of and from any and all claims, loss or liability (including reasonable attorneys' fees) that may be asserted against them or any of their clients, or incurred by them or any of their clients, at any time in connection with said material or any use thereof."

"We ain't gonna get sued if we use your idea, and if we do, you're paying for it, buddy."

And just a few notes for the future for spotting painfully obvious scams like this:

  1. A game studio will almost never ask you for an idea (actually never, I just say almost because I'm sure some ass has a single counter-instance).  They do not need your awesome idea.
  2. Actually look at the site-- that site has a stock background and two stock pictures.  Game studios have artists, they don't have to use stock photos.
  3. They want you to pay to enter contest and for sending in your idea and then they get to keep it.  El.  Oh.  El.
  4. "Industry professional" is a broad term.  I'm 99% sure that the person who made the site is or knows an industry professional but they're probably a tester or someone incredibly low level who has no pull what-so-ever.

If you want to protect your ideas or get your ideas out there, your best bet is to just make the game and put it out there.

You actually believed this? You're asking how to protect your idea?!

LOL

You have to pay to enter a competition, does that not ring bells in your mind? Their "Contact Us" page has no proper contact information on it. The website could be made by highshool students, and the whole website is about the competition.

I feel like I should welcome you to the internet, oh and stay away from people from Uganda wanting to transfer millions of dollars into an account of yours.

What is the game idea? Then we can tell you if its good enough to patent.

Thanks guys!I couldn't tll how genuine the site was cuz I saw the ad on IGN.Also,so even if this WAS real,I have no way of patenting my idea?

You cannot patent an "idea". Your best bet is to write an Ebook/Comic book. You'll have a copyright protection. If it's good you might be able to license it. This will only work if your idea is storybased.
If your idea is a gameplay mechanic make a mod and eventually game. Go to moddb and find people who want to put effort in it.
Share your idea. I don't believe someone will steal your idea. In the end you are the masterbrain that came up with it. So people/modders would like to have you in their team.

Hopefully it isn't a "GTA with everything" idea, because everyone came up with that already.
