Well good, because I've been toying around with an idea for a rant editorial on how much peripherals can suck my balls.
Seriously, has anyone bothered to count the peripherals this generation? I want to beat the hell out of Activision, EA, and Nintendo for flooding the market with cheap plastic gadgets.

I'm thinking that what we may want to do here is set up a core set of podcasters - preferably varied, maybe on a rotation - and bring in lots of people as sort of guest speakers every week.
The other alternative in my mind would be to set up at least three different teams, one for each console manufacturer, and that would be 1. difficult, 2. hard, and 3. a pain in the ass, especially in terms of finding appropriate teams who are easy to moderate as they have conversations

I think it's a lot better if you pit people of opposing viewpoints in the same podcast.
Then again, I love controversy. I don't see it being nearly as much fun to listen to if all three people only praise Nintendo during the entire podcast.
Those of the fanboy mentality may enjoy that (and consequently listen to one out of three of your podcasts) but I see the average fan getting bored with it and moving on quickly. Besides, so much in this industry is interwoven that all three console manufacturers should be talked about in every entry.

IDK how you guys will pull it off. Best get 1-2 "core" members that will definetly always be on. Then have the rest as guest/re-curring members.
But you guys need a dedicated foundation, or else it'll only be a matter of time before it crumbles.

This (the fanboy split) is the thing that's worrying me the most. On the other hand I don't want every podcast to be a screaming match. I'm thinking that each 'cast should have people talking about each company and we could discuss news and trends and whatnot, but this isn't going to be a praise-fest in any sense of the word. I want it to sound a little more professional than that.
Console loyalties won't mean anything here except as venues through which we find things to talk about. It's why I want the core members to preferably be multiplat owners, or at least abreast eough of cross-platform news that they can comment intelligently on other consoles without foaming at the mouth and chomping at the bit.

Well, I know that I would be one of the "core" no matter what
Khuutra, have you ever watched Around the Horn on ESPN? 4 people, who don't always agree with 1 moderator. You could have 2-3 regulars, with 1-2 people you cycle out. You get controlled controversy, as the host can "mute" a speaker if they are being ridiculous (or cutting someone off), and the host can direct questions to specific person if it is suited for them. Obviously we wouldn't have the point system, so you wouldn't really have to have every person answer every question either.
You also get familiarity with the host (you) and people are generally familiar with a few of their favorite "analysts", but you still get to include new guests.
edit: oh, also the host can interject his own thoughts, but he leaves the majority of the discussion to the others.

This is a very good system, though I wouldn't be "moderating" so much as I would just be a constant participant.
I think that this is probably what I'll end up going with. Sometime tonight or tomorrow I'll put up a topic trying to arrange who wants to be part of it.
Aroudn the Horn would be epic!
