Sounds like a great idea to me. We DO have worthy members, and, for once, I'd like to HEAR darth being hyped over FF XIII.

XD

That would be epic!

Looking at the multiple responses, I'd say that there's an overwhelming notion that people want this to happen, but we definitely need a strong foundation to stand on.

First off is the leader, or host (with the most). Pretty much this'll be the guy that has to deal with people, because people come with a lot of stuff (commitment issues for one). As a college student in the theatre/movie scene, I've seen too many examples of where people are initially excited about a great idea, but then fade away... only to leave the leader by him/herself... incredibly frustrated.

Luckily, we have plenty of people who are eager to do this, and it doesn't take as much time/effort/money/etc. as a full blown theatre/movie production.

Next off we need a long term plan. We need to blow past the first podcast with a plethora of ideas. Once again, I've seen too many examples of a great idea that has a great start... and then "now what?" starts to creep up. It can be messy.

But once again, the people speaking are the content, so we don't have to worry about future episodes (aka, future speakers) too much. We just need willing people.

So yeah, I'm definitely up for this idea, I picked "1" a while ago without a second thought, but your epic wall posting skills have brought me back to say "Yes, this is a great idea. And yes, I'm willing to give it all I've got."

Plus, you guys need to have someone like me on this podcast. Sonic must have a voice!

Are you sure you're not the CEO at Sonic Team?

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

If I was a developer of some sort, I would never be that cruel to Sonic.

*cries in a corner*

I love the idea.

I'd even participate if we could get the technology invisible enough to just be having a conversation over the internet.

The structure of one host asking a pre-arranged question then letting people speak in turn is the best one, but with some flexibility to let people interject. I think we could record for an hour and edit it down to half an hour, so the boring/disastrous/unclear parts could be removed. Long pauses on tape, or saying the wrong thing and having it go out to hundreds of listeners, would be my biggest fear in going on something like that. Editing would have to be collaborative, and respect anyone's wishes to edit their own stuff out of the final product.

We have plenty to talk about. If we go for biweekly or even monthly, we could pick the best five or ten out of every news article or sales figures talking point and just cover that. I don't think we should limit ourselves to video games though - general geek culture (technology, music, films, good websites etc.) and some political discussion would add variety.

Member interviews too - get a prominent member on, get the community to think of a few questions and ask them on air.

Trivial concern: Podcast theme music. Preferably performed by one of our members on real instruments.

Awsome idea! There are definitely some people here I would ove to here discussing video games. Khuutra would be a perfect host.

I support this initiative 100%.

After the NVC fiasco, I think podcasting would be better among the gamers themselves as opposed whining, bitter, and enraged "journalist" who troll and insult their audience just for hits.

I volunteer to participate too, if you guys would have me.

Because there are no whining, bitter and enraged gamers who spew insults?

The VGChartz members that would be participating in this are above all that.

khuutra, that idea is GENIUS!

I was thinking of applying myself, but I don't like listening to my voice on potcasts.

I kind of like the way Radio Free Nintendo does it: each speaker gets a few minutes to talk about what they're doing in gaming and what interests them, and then they address a list of topics which everyone knows about.

I do not think the theme music thing is trivial at all, even though I had not given it a thought before. Are there any suggestions on this front? Who here plays instruments?

I know that,  just like there are gaming journalists that are above it as well.  But people only tend to focus on the ones who are controversial.

yes, we especially need my comments in audio form
