Interesting...considering that what's been released this holiday season.

Huh?

1. SFIV was pretty even WW on both consoles.

2. Both Forza 3 and ODST were on the market for the 360, when this game launched.

My point is 360 has been psuhing TONS of software this holiday season, so somehow, competition of titles has been a problem.

You mean has not been a problem?

ODST came out a month before Borderlands, not the same week, like Uncharted 2 did.  Forza 3 is a completely different type of game.

.. and for a game as well reviewed Borderlands, it didn't sell very well on either console.

Sorry, I didn't realize that UC2 was a FPS.

X360 has more great WRPG/FPS than PS3. Fable 2, Mass Effect, Fallout 3 DLC (time exclusive) and soon Fable 3 and Mass Effect 2. Most of the fanbase own X360. Some PS3 games also outsell X360 ver 3:1 like PES10, Tekken 6.

The Uncharted 2 argument doesn't hold any water. If you look at the Xbox 360's November, where Modern Warfare 2 sold over 4 million units in its opening week, and then Assassin's Creed II and Left 4 Dead 2 (same genre as Modern Warfare 2) launched the next week and both have broken a million easily. The userbase argument is more valid.

Bingo!

I always buy the X360 version of FPS games for the same reason I buy the PS3 version of RPG games. They tend to be better on those respective systems. RPGs tend to be better on the PS3 because they come out later and have more extras. FPS games tend to be better on the X360 because of larger install base and thus more people for co-op/multiplay. Just the way things went this gen.

Fanbase difference.....

Ever wondered why Tekken/SF4,JRPG's,Soccer game's tend to do better on ps3 even with a smaller user base? or why hardcore games struggle to sell properly on Wii despite it having the highest userbase of all 3 console?

The userbase argument alone doesn't explain the difference.
MW2 has a 2:1 ratio comparing 360 and PS3 in NA and the ratio for Borderlands is 3:1.

I think Uncharted 2 did have some effect as it was released close to Borderlands.
Same thing with Demon Souls...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

It's a co-op game... and a shooter.

Many more people own 360s in the US.

Which means it's much more likely your friends own 360s then PS3s.

Co-op is the games strongest point.

I know that's how i make my purchasing decisions.

Will I want to play co-op?  If so

-Get it on PC.

-PC not an option.  Get it on 360.

If not

-Get it on PC...

- PC not an option? Get it on PS3.

I would say its due to the strong coop component and the Xbox 360 draws in people who want great multiplayer. A lot of the PS3 audience got their PS3s in spite of how bad the PS3 network was at the beginning and many simply don't care for multiplayer like me.

well it deserves to be in the million but its going to be hard for the ps3 just on the fact that games to sell that fast on the ps3, give the game some time it will be up there in no time.
