Money is the real answer sony paid 100 mil for VXIII and MS 20 mil for a timed exclusive(SO4)

Because FFXIII was started before Square-Enix knew how the market would take shape. They bet big on Sony because all the analysts thought the PS3 would sell better than the PS2 and the Wii would sell worse than the GC. Yes, developing on Wii would make a lot more sense for a lot of the big Japanese devs, but they really bet on the wrong system, and for a long time denied that the Wii is a viable platform for big blockbuster games mostly out of their own stubbornness.

besides, you really picked a bad example of a company as FFXIII is the only game square enix has made for the PS3 so far. Versus will make its way out eventually, but DQX (which is arguably bigger) is going to the Wii, and the Wii has a lot of other games like Dragon Quest Swords and FF:CC.

Maybe if you say it enough mate, it might actually become true.

Go on tell me, what "blockbuster" titles would sell better on the Wii in comparison to the PS3?

Did I ever say they would sell better on Wii? It looks like all I said is it would make more sense to develop blockbuster games on Wii, which it does. Larger install base + lower dev costs = lower risk for mainstream games and potentially larger profits.

Pretty much any big "blockbuster" title has a big potential to sell more on Wii than PS3 or X360. Blockbuster titles by definition are mainstream. Look at blockbuster movies, they are mainstream too. FFXIII is mainstream and all of Japan (and the gaming world) knows about the game. GTA is played by teenage girls, and one of my friends soley bought a PS3 for his wife to play GTA, which is a blockbuster mainstream game.

In Japan, you are talking a 9m to 4m advantage for Wii, and world wide a 32m unit lead. Heck, 8 games (Wii Sports wasn't counted even though the PS3 got bundles too) on Wii have sold more than the best selling title on PS3, and that number is going to increase very soon. The Wii took the crown from the PS2, and could easily sell lots of games if 3rd parties actually put quality titles on the Wii. Just looking at the music/rythm genre, pretty much every single game sold better on Wii than PS3.

Can you seriously believe that any "blockbuster" (which also indicates it is mainstream to some extent) wouldn't have the potential to sell better on Wii?

But Norlead, FFXIII is really the only big game the Wii didn't get in Japan, they got DQ aND MH, what other franchise doyou believe they shuld also have?

no but it seems this is the situation why didn 't SE published SO4 on both ps3/360 same time and waited a year exactly to release on ps3 a contract with MS is behind it

I don't understand Square Enix from a business standpoint.  I understand they made timed exclusives for the Xbox 360 because Microsoft gave them money to help fund most of the game and release them it on their system first but why did Square Enix stick with Sony for their biggest franchise?

They had to probably waste who knows how long just figuring out the new system and making new tools for it when they could have easily been up to speed immediately on the Wii.  They spent money like it was water when they could have had half the people working on it and finished it in half the time for the Wii.  The main Final Fantasy games practically sell themselves so Square Enix could have made more profit with the Wii.

So why from a business standpoint would they stick with Sony?  It can't possibly be because they wanted to push hardware boundaries because the last main game was on the weakest console of last generation.  Also the last Dragon Quest game was on DS so it shows they seem to be more than willing to put their big games on less powerful systems.  It's also not a shooter game so it's not like the Wii would be at a disadvantage when it comes to sales.

So why did they do it?  Does Square Enix hate money or is money second to them compared to loyalty?  Who are we kidding, they dumped Nintendo without a second though before.  Any ideas anyone?  Why didnt the console that is kicking the Playstation 3 in hardware and software sales get the game it should have rightfully gotten?

u wanted FF13 to be on the Wii,really?

Don't think I'd want a modern final fantasy game played with anything other than a dualshock controller...And Final Fantasy numbered games will always be on the consoles that have higher graphics potential.

Just waiting for that PS Vita to come out so I can play some full featured games on the go with that beautiful screen and control scheme...

KH! :) That's basically the only major main series that hasn't been announced yet this gen for consoles...

PSP in Japan, 360 everwhere, that's my guess.
