Put it this way. If you take away the 70k+ sales the PS3 has had in Japan then these numbers are horrible really. The west clearly are not purchasing the PS3's.

Even with 70k from Japan the ps3 isnt even able to outsell the 360 of last year that sold sod all in Japan. So really the 360 western last year is greater then the PS3 WW this year. Without Japan the PS3 wouldnt have even passed the 600k mark

The 360 hit a mass market pricepoint this time last year.

The PS3 hit an "affordable" pricepoint this year.

That is the answer to your sorrow. Now, for a smile... Go imagine what numbers PS3 will do when it hits tha mass market price.

No its not that, they all got wiis at launch (same with me) and the software just hasn't been there. Of the ten people I know with wiis, who all got it in the first few months of release, maybe 5 bought brawl, and one bought NSMBwii. And its not like they switched to ps3 or xbox, they just don't play games anymore, or they play on PC. And they were all at various levels of gaming enjoyment, some are huge gamers, others were what we would call casuals. None of them like the wii however.

And as for your question, the wii is almost doing double the sales of those two combined, so I would expect to see an impact of some sort amongst all the people I know, even if it was small.

The "haven't played a game since Brawl" thing is a really just people not even trying to look for a good game. This could be because they lost interest or got interested in another system (or PC) or hobby. I really don't care, but there are plenty of games that are being released that gain the interest of other people.

I'm just saying, personal experience with who owns/plays certain consoles does not in any way reflect reality.

Well of course, my story is completely anecdotal, but with a console selling this much I would think I would see effect, even if its only hearing people talk about the wii. But nothing, moms not interested, aunts and uncles aren't interested, grandparents aren't interested. Obviously not a representative sample- but you think at least one of them would have at least a slight interest considering these huge sales.

Nah i agree with what you are saying. I just expected more sales from the west. I just meant it is really disappointing that the West isnt getting behind the PS3 more. Because with these Japanese figures the PS3 could have been pulling off much better numbers had the west brought more PS3,s thats all.

Its just the thought that a 360 with no Japanese support can outsell the PS3. thats all. I do think overall it has done well but the western sales are disappointing.

I know 1 person who has the Wii out of so many (Queens, NY), needless to say I have slept over or borrowed the system for the few actual good games such as No More Heroes, TP, Masamune, Okami (prefered the PS2 version and am surprised that it didn't translate as well as it should have on the Wii). Wii sports, Mario Galaxy aren't my cup of tea, and SSBB I only enjoy when I am with several friends. When choosing my system couple of years back, I was looking at certain games I really wanted an expected such as MGS4 (hence why I got that bundle), FFXIII (broke my heart to see 360 get it as well, as at the time I believe that true rpg'ers are on nintendo or sony consoles), another game from team ICO, another set of game from Level-5 (loved dark cloud), more GT, more Ar Tonelico, more valkyrie profile (dunno if it will happen anymore), more Star Ocean (stupid move by SE, sales on 360 were mediocre at best and such an outdated graphics engine given the power of the system), etc.

Wii's a good piece of hardware, I just lost interest in Mario after SMB3 (I still think it's the best in series for gameplay and innovation), Zelda after Ocarina of Time, has only kept dissapointing me (when I say dissapointing, I mean it in terms of comparing them to Ocarina, and I HATED WW). I am also one of the few out there probably that didn't like the direction they took with the Metroid series during Prime. It is important to note that when looking at Nintendo games from generation to generation, it seems to be the NES that had the best titles overall (except RE4 Wii version and Ocarina of Time). I loved Bad Dudes, SMB3, Blaster Master, River City Ransom (if you haven't played this, you are not a true ninty fan, one of my favs of all time), Double Dragon series, TMNT arcade, etc. ....Wow thank you nordlead, you made me go off topic and now imma have to go back and play those games rofl.

Back on the actual topic, great sales for Wii, and i am glad PS3 is climbing at a steady pace. I don't know much of Wii's games for 2010 except maybe Zelda, but I am excited at the PS3's lineup in all categories: MAG, WKC, GOW3, Ar Tonelico 3, The Last Rebellion, Yakuza 3, 3D Dot Game Heroes, GT5 (crossing my fingers for FF VS XIII).

Some info...

* PS360 WW GAP = 6.1 and decreasing (next week should be down 400k or more)
* PS360 Others GAP = 160k (next week PS3 receive the crown)
* PS3 4,1 million and Wii 9,07 million (who should get the millstone first?)
