Forums - Nintendo - Interview with Koji Kondo, Nintendo's Musical Mastermind

God, this man is a genius, no other way to describe him. He's one of the reasons why I love Nintendo so much.

Greatest game music composer you will ever find. Hail him.

Yup, this man is one of the greatest, if not the greatest game music composer.

Galaxy had an amazing soundtrack, the most epic Mario game ever!

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

The theme of the stage Dire Dire Docks/Jolly Roger Bay from Super Mario 64 remains my favorite track ever. Over 13 years onward and i still can't get enough of it. Koji Kondo is amazing.

How technical is your game?

My god he looks old. That's so depressing, I don't want him to ever die. =(

Yeah, it's sad to see he's aging, but he will still be around for a long time, same with Miyamoto. Both these guys are the best of the best.

I was just listening to the Wind Waker soundtrack, and it's simply wonderful. This guy has made some of the most iconic and some of the most moving pieces of music in gaming history.

Can't wait to see what he's come up with in Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Zelda Wii.

The beginning of the video is very special, because you can see that he is still passionate about his work. You don't move along with the music if you are just going with the motions and phoning it in.

*applauds*

I can bet his Zelda Wii music will be awsome ( as every of his music)

Absolutely not to take anything away from the focus on Kondo-san (The newest them for Mario Galaxy is possibly my favorite of anything that ever came before it), I just wanted to also wave the flag for Kenji Yamamoto (Super Metroid, Metroid Prime) and Masafumi Takada (Godhand, No More Heroes). These are the three legends of video game music in my eyes (or ears?).
