If Resistance 3 steps up, it could potentially manage 3 million. If they continue down this horrible derivative path, 2 million if it's lucky.

Killzone 2 had two main problems: It launched in February, and there was bad word of mouth. If they (and it pains me to say this) make the game easier to learn, and launch it in the holiday season, 3 million+ with ease. Otherwise, similar numbers to KZ2.

If it carries on down the same path as res2... res3 wont get anywhere near 2 million.  Even at 1.7m res2 has got way more than it deserved.

A metacritic of 87, a generous coop campaign and now the great value platinum price of £20, and you have the cheek to say it sold "way more than it deserved".

Unreal.

Shoddy graphics, derivative gameplay, removal of everything that made the original...original, and broken multiplayer, and you claim it sold less than it deserved? And considering I can get LBP for less than £20...

Funny that you mention Unreal, because UT3 is a much better game.

you told me when I sent you a long message on your Resistance 2 review you didn't even play Resistance FOM...so how would you know what is original and what isn't broken from the first one? I really don't understand why you hate the game rather than just not like it...your quite known too here for your R2 hate

I've played it since then. Fantastic game.

And since then, my opinion of R2 has gone down, because it's not just derivative and bland, it's derivative, bland AND killed the originality of the first game.

Not to say that it's bad. I don't hate it.

ok fair enough

I really enjoy the series, the storyline and atmosphere is mindblowing...I bought Wildstorm's 6 issue mini-series on the Resistance storyline and the novel released earlier this year

I can't wait for Insomaniac to announce the 3rd one...of course I hope they make improvements in gameplay mechanics but other than that I found the 2nd one superior to the first

What's better in Resistance 2:

-Graphics

-More players online (I haven't really played RFOM online, so I can't comment on that much)

-Last 3 minutes of the game are fantastic

-Checkpoints

What's better in RFOM:

-Weapon wheel

-Story

-Health system

-Campaign Co-op

-More sinister feel

-VEHICLES.

If they put all of those together, Resistance 3 could be truly amazing. Insomniac seem to have noticed that fan feedback for R2 was overwhelmingly negative, compared to the original. If they move the series in the right direction, R3 will be a great game, and it will have sales to reflect this. But Resistance 2 has damaged the popularity of the series, so one more game should do it, and then back to Ratchet/New IP.

Kantor, you seem to be ignoring the co-op of R2, which is brilliant and allows for up to 8 players online, in favour of the 2 player offline co-op of RFOM..

Seems odd to me.

RFOM had campaign co-op.

R2 had those pointless, story-less, unconnected missions that required no teamwork.

They were enjoyable, but I don't see why Insomniac couldn't have included both.

They do require teamwork.

And on harder difficulties there are literally gabazillions of Chimera. :O

actually they are not story-less and unconnected missions...they reveal a lot about the Resistance 2 storyline and overall timeline of the Resistance universe

Resistance 3 will probably put up similar numbers to Res2, unless they show large upgrades to the engine, or throw in something like the campaigns from the first two games as part of the deal. I think this one will be out November 2010 - it's too big of a money maker for Sony/Insomniac to not do another installment quickly, (just like gears3)

Killzone 3.. Will have to be hyped, no doubt it will be. Graphics will most likely impress.. We might be on Vecta or some other planet this time so the scenery might be a lot more colorful. They've said that part of the 'weight' in killzone 2 was part of Hellghan's harsh gravity, so I'm predicting the responses in KZ3 will be notched up from 130ms to 100ms or so - we'll see, that might be an engine limitation. Less response time might help the multiplayer catch on (appease the CoD fans)
