"At whoever challenged me on my race car analogy. The point I was making was that some sports do make it harder for their athletes to compete because if they make it too easy they reduce the skill gap. This is especially true of sports that requires its participants to use a man made machine like a car, boat, plane or controller."

Your analogy is only correct if you asume that KB+M is lowering the skill ceiling, wich it isn't. If you have seen videos of competitive PC players you should see how fast they can move the aim, yet have such fine-tuned movements. There is no equivalent at all of that skill in competitive console gaming period. The interface is in a whole different league, and so are the players, such skills would be useless with a DA interface, yet DA doesn't add any new skills that aren't required with KB+M.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Of course the speeds are going to be fast.  You are using a mouse.  It is easy to make fast and fine-tuned movements with a mouse.  That is like saying that anyone driving a Ferrari fast around a road course must have more skill than a rally care driver maneuvering around precarious courses at a slower speed.  They are a completely different skill set.  Does one mean more skilled than the other?  That is debatable.

I feel that using the mouse and keyboard is better than a controller, but that's just me. I can use both dual analog (PS3 or 360) too, but a lot of times I kind of wish that I was using a keyboard and mouse when I'm playing a console shooter.

Sometimes it just depends on the game though. Killzone 2, for example, felt great on a controller while other titles like Resistance 1/2 (multiplayer) and Call of Duty 4, World at War, and Modern Warfare 2 are ones that I hardly care to play with a controller. After playing The Orange Box and Left4Dead on consoles versus the PC, I hardly want to touch the console version.

One argument that I see some people make about the dual analog sticks is the movement. I just don't get the argument since I don't think being able to slightly tilt the stick really matters (certain exceptions apply) and I've had plenty of falling deaths from fudged movement in both PC and console titles. Not only that, but I'll flick the analog stick in a direction multiple times to position myself better just like I would tap the keyboard keys to do the same task. If I really need it, there's usually a walk button. Otherwise, crouching and moving works just fine. Heck, I didn't have much of a problem using my mouse and keyboard in a third person action game with a revolving camera (where you don't control like a tank) such as the Arkham Asylum demo.

Yep.

Fucking hard to make the right movements, though.

Some games feel great with a controller, like Gears of War.  I think what boggles my mind about console FPS games is they don't play to their strengths near as much as they should.  I played Gears on 360 and PC and there's just no comparison, the game was so well crafted around the controller I found myself plugging one into my PC to play it.  At the same time a game like Halo 1 or Halo 2 on PC feels much more comfortable to control.  People think I'm crazy for saying Gears on 360 is the best shooter to come out in the last 5 years, but given how perfectly it plays to its platform I'm amazed more people don't bring it up.  Yes story and multiplayer left a lot to be desired, but the pure mechanics of the game are incredible.

this argument is pointless, the best control option is whichever one you are most comfortable with, I played Halo 1 on the PC recently (during CAD class once we got our work done, insanely fun) and I did horribly compared to how I do on the 360, I do better with analog stick aiming then I do with mouse aiming (way too sensitive IMO)

IMO yes controllers pwn mouses and keyboards.

You can configure mouse sensitivity to however you like.
