I'm usually a selfish jerk in real life, and I try to act the same way here. I dunno if I have succeeded, though (someone tell me)

You've helped me quite a lot actually.

Ha! You fail!

I'm actually nicer online, because I realize that a LOT more people see how I act online then with a person/small group. So I'm more careful with what I say/do.

I'm a jerk, both in real life and on teh interwebz. Making other's feel bad about themselves makes me feel better about myself :D

Well personally I don't think we are naturally good or evil but really just a blank slate when we come in this world. Sure we are a product of our society but there are still things in our nature that guide us to other things namely recognition of common suffering and protection of our species. But I guess it is hard to call this human nature because they can be changed. But let's not get into a philosophical debate here because the nature versus nurture argument is indeed one of the most complex ones in philosophy.

As for real life and internet life, I don't put on much of a visage. I try to treat people here the same way I would in real life... if they earn respect they will be treated respectfully and if they don't then they won't be treated that way. But on a first meet kinda thing, I always make sure I provided that southern hospitality that my region is known for. I do think though on the internet I'm a little more "aggressive" with some of my ideas but I attribute that more to being a better writer than a speaker. Not to mention things stated can indeed be taken differently than those written and therefore a little tact or wit is necessary.

For a general populous though, people on the internet are going to be a little more forward and definitely more disrespectful, rude, and irresponsible compared to that of real life. Why? Well for one it is easy to forget that the names and avatars you are talking to are indeed real people. Second, there is never a repercussion to anything you say because the worst they can do is ban you. Not like you fear actual punishment or worse getting your ass kicked by saying such things on the internet. Finally, there is no "society" to really polarize people on the internet to at least upholding to certain standards. These are the reasons blogs and forums can contain a lot more radical speech than that of ones you'll see on TV and even radio. I guess as also a side note, internet is more mainstream and therefore you can get a lot of "undesirable" opinions from those who may indeed not care for others to begin with while in other situations this won't exist for the most part.

I guess some could look at what I say and think I take the "internet too seriously" but I think that is a cop out for those who want to think there should be life regardless of some limitations. I take this kinda notion into things like this because I am talking to people. Just because I can't see them nor can I hear them, that doesn't mean they aren't people when they are talking to me. They deserve every sense of decency and respect whether or not I'm shaking their hand in real life or simply discussing a political issue with them on a debate forum. Something people forget on the internet and even forget it in normal discussions and real world debates that these are people not just opponents or enemies or avatars.

I'm an ass and far too sarcastic for my own good.

No, a jerk would have banned both of them and called them stupid freaks in the ban reason.

God, you suck at being mean
