Forums - Sony - Sony PSN Premium Pay

Ok, so we've heard the rumors that Sony might charge for some sort of Premium PSN package. The current mold will stay free, but some kind of premium deal might be coming. So, what kind of package would you be willing to pay for?

I think they should do a NetFlix type of package. Their current video store makes no sense to me.Why rent 3 HD movies for $9, when I get get unlimited stream via Netflix for the same price?

Also, if they had a video game rental service for their PSN games, that would be cool too. Rent Flower, Pixel Junk Shooter, and more!

$10-$15 a month for unlimited video and game rentals, exclusive vids, etc...!! That would be awesome!!

So, what kind of premium package would you pay for?

Its interesting how it went from "we will offer other offerings on PSN similar to Netflix" to "SONY IS CHARGING FOR PSN PREMIUM"

Game rentals sounds pretty good. Also might be a nicer way to get into all the beta's as opposed to Qore... or perhaps the service will also include Qore.

4 ≈ One

So long as the multiplayer online remains free, I'd be willing to look at paying a subscription for extra features. I like the idea of beta access for subscribers (but what happens if millions of people become subscribers, then it would become a lottery of sorts again). Unlimited game rentals sound good, but $15 per month is a sizeable chunk of cash (that $180 per year, which you could buy 3 games to own forever with). I think if the package included 1 free PSN game per month, it would be very tempting, or $5 PS Store credit (think about it, that won't cost Sony $5 in reality). I'm interested to see what they have planned though, just keep my playing free!

This. They will not charge for PSN. Premium subscription is already there, and its called Qore.

I wouldn't buy into it.

$15 is a bit much. Maybe $50 a year like Live, but with movie/game rentals. Also, I'm not a fan of Qore. I don't think it's worth it.

But I like the Beta idea a lot!!!

That's exactly what I was thinking. Doesn't the PSN already have Qore??

As for the question I'd be willing to pay for... nothing. I just want to be able to play my games online for free and I'm set.

Somehow I'm thinking backward compatibility and voice chat as payable extra's >_>

Sony is treading on a thin line here. The question is are they adding services to the premium subscription or are they taking current services away.
