it may not sound crazy but still they will probably want to hype it at E3 and also not have two marios in less than 6 months or so.

No, between a possible Galaxy 2, a confirmed Red Steel 2, Endless Ocean BW and NMH Desperate Struggle.. OMG.
Now if only Nintendo would be so kind as to give me Tingle RPG 2 in 2010... it'd be the best year ever, for me.

Nice.
So based on past games, I'd expect the earliest would be November 2010 (25% chance), or Spring/Summer 2011 (50% chance), or Winter 2011 (25% chance).
Remember Nintendo still has Metroid:M and SMG2 for 2010. So they may not be in a rush to get ZeldaWii out in 2010.

Nintendo do need a big 'bridge' game for the year, and neither of those would qualify, Zelda Wii is the only one that *might*. They also need to get a big M+ game out before the millions of people who bought one feel like they shouldn't have bothered with yet another poorly supported peripheral (ie. another unfulfilled promise by Nintendo). Zelda Wii would do both.
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
I'm happy for Nintendo and it's fans but this is one Zelda I will not be rooting for. Aonuma is a good producer but he is not the right producer for Zelda. I will remain a fan but I shall not buy one more Zelda game until Miyamoto returns to the franchise.

He designed the dungeons in OoT, and he has been the director since Majora's Mask, so I really don't see what your problem is.

i can't wait until they start adding all the features they ahve been bringing all into one game. You know like a HUGE game that has a giant overworld where some is only explorable on foot and/or horse, other parts have train tracks and you can use a train if you want. Reaching some parts require you to use a ship, and as they said about thinking of flying.
so far they seem to only put one new feature in each game, i want them to put them all in. Like a pure dream would be imagine twilight princess' world, and then imagine that world being just 1 of say 5 islands or something. And you have to sail to next one, and this new one may have tracks, or one not being a huge island but many small island's like a chain. one being a rocky platform type island and using this new flying ability to traverse like a pit style. (kid icaris)
Or basically i just hope they impliment all the things in the past zelda's into one. transforming masks, time traveling, sailing, trains, and the dungeions being kind of like metroid or the phantom hourglass/spirit tracks main dungeon, where you can go back to say fire temple much later in game when you get some new equipment that lets you go further and so on. make the world seem more open versus just going to each dungeon in order and items basically only usable in said dungeon

Nintendo seem to be operating on shorter development times for some big games these days, so I wouldn't be too surprised.
This is the only contender for their "big game" of 2010, if they manage to make it into a bridge game in the vein of Mario Kart Wii and NSMB. I'm skeptical that they will achieve anything like that though. It would be perfectly doable, but I don't think the way they seem to be approaching it is going to result in that. |
From what we've heard so far, I agree (though I couldn't say for sure, we don't have much to go by).
The thing about Zelda is, more so than any of Nintendo's titles, it is the core game. By that I mean, if they "screw" this up (by reviews / metacritic standards) due to making it more accessible / a bridge title, the internet would literally explode. Ha, I wonder how Eiji Aonuma would feel about that... considering how he still goes on about topping Ocarina of Time.

You know Aonuma almost resigned following the TWW debacle, don't you?
