Forums - Gaming - Demon's Souls difficulty...

I'm a little disappointed in Demon's Souls difficulty... it's not that it's hard(because it is)...but not in a good way. You need to learn different enemies and figure out the timing for riposte's and when to roll away from their attacks, but the problem is that you need to re-clear the 'entire level' every time you want to learn the timing with a new enemy...

It might just be because I just started playing(about 2hours in as a thief), but that's my impression.

I'm going to finish the game though because it's a Monster Hunter type game but as an RPG with an amazing atmosphere.

So you want a purposely hard game to be easier?

Time to Work !

Well, that to me it's the main appeal of the game. The game doesn't pamper you, doesn't hold your hand.

You make mistakes? Learn from them and next time you'll do better. You get too overconfident? Then next time use more caution.

The game wants you too learn the true meaning of fighting for your life and surviving against the odds, as even the simplest enemy is equal to you.

The go back to the beginning once you die system, takes me way back into the NES days, so that's only a plus to me :)

..........as a thief?
hey. heres a tip.
1) quit the game.
2) delete your character
3) start over
4) don't select thief or barbarian ever.

Silicon, several levels have shortcuts that make subsequent attempts easier if you make it that far, but die playing the boss or whatever. So you don't always have to reclear the whole level.

I consider it to be grinding though. For me grinding doesn't make a game hard... just tedious.

I really just wanted to complain about the need to re-clear the levels over and over.

So, you'd rather the game just be cheap rather than you improving as a player?

I did make exploring more intense! Especially moving through a new section and exploring what's around the corner. Having notes left by players was a fun too.

It will get better. I was annoyed with the always reclearing the first few times I died, but after you get a few levels, and some skill, you can just rush through the whole level in no time, taking everyone out in 1 second as you go.
