Star Ocean transcends console pettiness. I would own both versions regardless of whether I own those platforms or not. Take a look at my username and signature and take a wild guess as to why.

There has been no evidence that there are new playable characters. tri-Ace has never mentioned it, and the only reference I can find from Square Enix is a blurb from the EU site that has long since been removed. When I confront the people spreading these myths, I don't get evidence. I get attitude. They take personal offense from the thought that the PS3 isn't getting the almighty version, so instead of proof I end up with crap about my "agenda" and other silly accusations. But not once does anyone actually back up their shit.

I've studied the international version because it's Star Ocean. I've seen the trailers, I've seen the screens, I've investigated the official site. There is not a single shred of evidence that any of the 'new' characters are actually playable. The game comes out in a week. Are you honestly telling me that they added FOUR new characters and not a single one is paraded in promotional materials? Isn't this counter-productive? This is the exact opposite of what happens with Star Ocean. Any time a new character is added to a new version of one of the games, it's made pretty clear. Mirage and Adray were pretty clearly kicking asses on the SO3DC site. Welch was in several screens for the SO1/2 PSP versions. I don't see Crowe, Elyna, Welch or Giotto fighting it out in any single screenshot or frame of footage in SO4i. And until I do, I stick by what I said: there are no new playable characters.

Get mad about it. Throw a tantrum, call me whatever if you have to. But I'm right and you're wrong, kay?

You're under the impression that because I backed up my stance with thorough evidence that I'm somehow mad. I'm taking everything down with one fell swoop - this isn't just aimed at the people in here, I'm addressing my encounters elsewhere too. When I questioned the origins of the claims of "new playable characters!!!" on GameFAQs, I was attacked by the SDF.

If you can stand Lymle's "Kay" umm "Kay" and Edge little(ok huge) meltdown during 2 hours of the game were he whine and whine and whine about everything this game is rather good actually, way better then what the score says.

NO!!!!!!!!!! IT'S RIGHT THERE, WHY WOULD HE BE LISTED IF HE'S NOT PLAYABLE?!?! if you noticed, all the other characters in the blocks...are playable..thanatos, edge maverick, etc..why would they list crowe if he's an NPC like you're saying? that makes no sense.

Sorry Square. It should have been day-to-date or an exclusive for the PS3. We were dying for a JRPG and you ignroed us. IM saving my money for WKC, Heavy Rain and FFXIII

You mean Tri-ace? seriously, tri-ace has done nothing but disappoint this generation..I'm still gonna get this though because I'm starved for jrpgs, thanks to WADA.

The same reason the other non-playable characters are listed - because he's important to the storyline.

When I mean proof I actually mean proof. Screenshots of him in the party, battle footage, anything. Anything with substance. You have to be pretty naive to believe that because a character has a bio on the site, it automatically means they're playable when there's overwhelming evidence pointing in the opposite direction.
