These are for games though, not the PS3 itself. The Wii and the 360 already had a shitload of these goldbox deals.

There could be bundles though too, but these are very rare. Chances are there will be a load of Hanna Montana games with some old games like GTA4 for $10 mixed in. We shall see, they will provide clue as to what the deals are.

Sony must have underestimate the demand?

If they're losing money on every PS3 sold then maybe this is a way for them to limit their losses for the quarter. It's hard to imagine them even considering leaving the hardware side of the business until they give the PS3 at least another 2-3 years to try to make a profit.  That or maybe their credit it maxed out and they simply can't afford to make many of them in advance anymore.

The controller also requires you to plug in the USB dongle in order to use it on the PS3.

It figures that something like this would happen. I sold my brand new in the box 120 gig on ebay a couple of weeks ago for $305. Now, the stores are going to make it scarce, so they can sell higher priced bundles for the holidays. And my standalone one probably could have gone for $500.00 in the next couple of weeks.

PS3 is doing real good this end of the year, that's the rush where the most sales are done. I doubt PS3 is suffering supplies constraints but it's definitely doing beyond expectations somehow.

i havent seen a PS3 in Cornwall for a while, there are few in GAME but places like Currys Digital here just have about 60 360's in the window, about 30 Wii's and sometimes 1 PS3, i dont understand whats going on?
