Forums - Gaming - Please help! Looking for a game similar to Heroes of Might and Magic

I have started thinking about a game that I played as a kid. It was similar to Heroes of Might and Magic in that you had upgradable cities and moved around with armies and fought rogue armies or enemy heroes.

Things that I remember from the game is that you could place some sort of spire on the ground that either spread some sort of creep if you were evil, or dispelled it if you were good.

There were two (or maybe three) playable factions

You had a knight unit that was very powerful.

You had monks that could be either upgraded to heal all your units in a single turn, or to have a more powerful heal.

Please tell me that there is at least someone here that can recognise the game from my description. No matter what searchwords I use, I just can't find it. And I really want to see that game again, perhaps download it and play it again.

Shit I know exactly which game you mean, I might have it somewhere on an old cd, but I can't remember the name if you'd killed me. I'll try to look for it.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Well it seems like I'll have to fail you. I went through my old PC mags and some of my game cd's and couldn't find it. I still think I'll know that game, since I've played pretty much every turn based strategy that was worth playing. Do you have any idea when that game could've been released? I have few games in mind, but I can't be sure yet.

The only game similar to Heroes of Might and Magic that I know of is Disciples.

Probably not what you're looking for though...

There was a game called Master of Magic, it had elements og Heroes. It was made by Simtex, best known for the 2nd Master of Orion game. Never played it, though.

Well, I must have played it at least before year 2000 I think.

The graphics are somewhat pixelated I think if that is any help in determening the age of the game.

I have started to remember some more things about it as well. To get an upgraded variant monk, you had to upgrade your building-that-builds-monks into one of two variants, and then you han either have the mass-healing monk or the power-healing monk depending on what building upgrade you chose.

I think the evil faction had some kind of ghost unit that could paralyze enemies but I'm not sure. Also, there were neutral units to fight, but they were rarer than in Heroes of Might and Magic, there were dragons and some kind of wizard I think.

The menu where you select factions looked like a huge circle that rotated and showed what looked like a painting of each faction. I could only chose good or evil, but there was a painting with a dragon that I couldn't choose for some reason. Perhaps I only had the demo.

If you find out the name of the game, I will be eternally grateful :D
