A shitload of titles are overtracked, not just Forza 3. Singling out Forza 3 means the OP is a fanboy.

I know he is.    But I am not convinced Forza 3 is overtracked.

Well he can't play the key rival to Forza so the OP's wasting his time on here?  I really don't know but its crap the mods don't stop the constant trolling against certain games, none of the 360 fans are posting threads bashing Uncharted 2 sales on here because they'd get infractions.

Several things. Firstly NPD is only the USA whereas this sites NA numbers include canada and Mexico I believe.

Secondly its a racing game, which generally sell well in Europe. So mainland EU may be skewing closer to the UK sales then most games usually do.

It may or may not be overtracked I haven't looked at the numbers but since this site adjusts on the fly it should sort itself out eventually.

Forza 3 is about 30k overtracked in October

Borderlands sold about 240k according to VGC in the US
Madden NFL 10 sold about 226k according to VGC in the US
Forza 3 sold about 395k according to VGC in the US

You can see the strong legs of Forza in the Chart Track charts.

That means:
1. it's overtracked by at least 200k units.
2. Microsoft shipped more than 1 million units in the first month
3. Forza 3 sold about 1.5m units until 5th December

And yet GT5P barely sold 220k it's first NPD, did not chart it's second NPD, has supposedly sold over 4 million copies, and this guy has no problem with that...

 

Also we should all know by now that usually when Sony or MS say sold, they mean shipped. So truly sold Forza 3 is probably 7 or 800,000

 

I also remember this board making a thread about how great the newest Ratchet and Clank sold (seriously) when it debuted at I think 37,000 NPD and #25 or something in the UK (the only EU place it charted, ever, I think). because Insomniac said it was trhe fastesy selling Ratchet, and the series had sold 10 million supposedly, thus, R&C, which again debuted to something like LESS than 50k NPD and #25 in the UK, was declared a smash hit on this board...
