Square Enix developer Akitoshi Kawazu has said that a HD enabled Wii would be 'boring', if HD was the only new feature to the console. Kawazu was asked about the rumoured 'Wii HD' in an interview with GameZone;

"If the only difference really in the Wii 2 is only SD to HD would, that would be really quite boring."

The Nintendo Wii has been the centre of controversy as it's not HD enabled. Though sales figures seem to object to complaints. Analyst Michael Pachter has said that he thinks we'll see a new Wii in 2010. However, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime claims that a console sequel is definitely not in the works.

Judging by sales, we won't be seeing an HD Wii anytime soon. I bet we'll see SD 360 and PS3 first

Does it really make sense? Did we not go from the PS2 and Xbox to the PS3 and Xbox 360. That's SD to HD with nothing more. They still both have dual analog controllers similar to the last gen consoles. Besides, Square Enix has done nothing innovative on the Wii thus far. Therefore, when Square shows me an innovative game that they've done on the Wii then they can talk. Right now all they need to do is shut up cause all their talk is boring me. Blah this and Blah that.

Isn't that what Nintendo have said? that when they release a new console they won't just do it for HD graphics but actually more.



If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

Funny how analysts predicted HD on the motion controlled console, but few predicted motion controls on the HD consoles.

The only Wii HD which is possible in the short term is a version of the Wii with higher resolution rendering or better upscaling, but not a new console requiring specific software. I doubt either will happen.

well yeah, by the time theres a wii HD, the competition will have nintendo's differentiation: motion controls.

Um no, the differentiation is the software.
