Then NATAL would sell a shitload, and Microsoft would lose a hell of a lot of money.

You mean at $60 for the total package? With the ad campaign they'll have for it? They may lose upwards of $250 per unit, then. Selling 10 million+ could become very, very expensive. Billions, easily, because I couldn't see them losing less than $100 at that price. They'd really have to be going all in on the idea, because it's going to cost them as much as a console launch. That means a push for Natal support in any game where it's even remotely feasible (and that better be a sizeable share).

You do not have the right to never be offended.

i based the offer on the situation that NATAL would $100.

They would lose money but NATAL will havea great start.

Sony lost much more money on PS3,so i think with MS fiances they could do it

They could do it, yes. Their stockholders would riot and sell everything, and they'd lose a hell of a lot of money even if they didn't go bankrupt. But the real question here is: why would they want to? What would it achieve to sell a $60 million game (once advertising is paid for) and a $100 camera for $60? You would be losing $100 on each sale. Reach would sell a lot with this deal: perhaps 10 million. So a $1 billion loss...for what?

Not only that, but you would only have 10 million Natal units sold. That's less than 1/3 of the current install base, and by the time Natal launches it will be more like 1/4. Yeah there will be non-Reach related Natal sales too, but at a much slower buying rate. So MS loses $1 billion to get Natal into fewer homes than the original XBox. Doesn't sound like a cunning plan to me.

Both the Wand and Natal have their basic problem that there will be low market penetration for the hardware. Wii has motion control with every unit sold from launch. Natal and Wand will be very lucky to get 50% of the install base with motion control. I don't need to do the maths for you but if you only have an effective install base of 25 million (and that will be a few years away) then you are going to be much more hard pressed to make a profit on games.

Now make Halo: Reach use Natal in a really compelling way and you'll have Halo fans salivating over paying the full price for Natal on top of Reach. Get 5-6 million Natal units into homes and make a modest profit at the same time.

but if they launched NATAL without a solid software,it wouldn't be as succesfull. And we know there is no other franchise that will have so much impact.

Tell you what, send your idea to Microsoft, and post their reply. Censor the swearing, though.

It might end up as something like "******** ****** **** ********* you ****************************************".

If you base this off the idea that they are going to sell the thing for around 40-60 USD then it looks much more appealing. Halo 1 set the standard for FPSes on consoles for dual analog controls and it wouldn't be surprising to see them set the standard for Natal. If every Halo: Reach came with Natal and Natal was sold seperately with other stuff (Natal Sports or Natal Fit) it could very quickly hit Wii like numbers. Here is why... show some person who is interested in the Wii the Natal video and look at their reaction. Natal is what they were thinking about even if they didn't understand it... I think if marketed this way they could easily cause a resurgence of sales on a level much greater than last years. Done correctly they'll be sitting there next to the Wii on the sales chart... if they screw it up then they will just beat this years numbers... but I think it has a higher than average chance of exploding... it's lighting in a bottle and really if Microsoft drops the ball it'll be a giant step back... if it does work expect the next Nintendo system to have it as well
